Clarification on win increase: At 90-59, #RedSox have 21 more W this year than '12, a larger increase in W than '67 Impossible Dream (20).

I think we could sweep this series, pitching matchups look to be mainly in our favour.

What's this double shift everyone keeps talking about. What does the defensive alignment look like ? .

Sac bunts in the 2nd inning, with 2 on no outs, is infuriating. Especially when the next hitters are WMB who hasn't gotten a hit in days, and Ross who rarely gets hits. If we do this crap in the playoffs I will lose it.

This team is awesome.

We really have nothing to fight over until the postseason, except home field advantage with the tigers. I just want this team to clinch the division already.

It would probably be wise to try to give extra rest to Lester, Lackey, and Peavy now.

We're just gonna have to deal with Middlebrooks streaky of cold and hot.

Although this season has been everything I've hoped for and more, how well we've played against the MFY makes it that much sweeter

That and we are ruining their playoff-hopes. 5-1 over the past 6 games. Especially during a stretch where the Yanks have been hot. Had the Yanks won both series, they'd probably be sitting in a WC-spot as of today.

-Lavigne43-

We haven't ruined their playoffs hopes. The Rays and Rangers are sucking too bad for that. The focus has been on Tampa, but Texas is 2-10 so far this month.

I would rather have Tampa and Texas fall out of it so we get (if we finish with the best record) Clevland/Baltimore

Of course we have, at least if they indeed miss the WC by 2-3 games and your point is the exact reason why. Because had the Yanks gone 5-2 against us instead of 1-6/2-5, they'd be on par/ahead of most WC-contenders. At this point it's really difficult for them to leave the Indians with their cakewalk schedule and both - Tampa and Texas - behind them. Not to mention KC crawled back into the race.

Anything can happen in the playoffs. If we play like we are now we will probably win the World Series. If we play like we were a month ago we will probably lose in the first round. Just how it goes. Not a bad time to go on a tear since it gave us the division

X, who stole 2b, stopped midway there to draw the throw. The throw was mishandled. Was a weird play.

Buchholz hasn't allowed an ER in 11 innings since coming off DL. ERA now 1.51. Lowest by ML starter (min 90 IP) since Gibson's 1.12 in '68

So weird to only have 4 pages when we just swept the yankees. Nothing left now other than the playoffs, that should be fun!

Although Buchholz only yielded an unearned run, his command left more to be desired. He was missing with his fastball up and he was bouncing some pitches. He also made a habit of falling behind a lot of batters.

I'm not complaining as this is his second start since coming off of the DL (3 months of missed time due to sleeping on your shoulder wrong with your child .) He also didn't have the impressive movement on his pitches either.

Oh well, a sweep of the Yankees is awesome and the magic number is 4 for the division. Suck it Valentine.

Great to see a sweep over the Yankees. Think this wraps up the division for us and may even eliminate the Yankees from the wild card race.
