Now hear me out. His actual performance as Coach dont merit him for the HOF. But I believe the HOF is for players, coaches who impacted the game of basketball. His philosophy as coach fundamentally changed the league that is very different that before he was the head coach of the Pheonix Suns. Today more times rely on the 3 point shot than ever before and I feel as though Dantoni has contributed to this philosophy. You could say the Heats whole game plan is revolved around Dantoni's idea's on offense.

Now on merit he probably doesn't deserve it, But he like Yao who also doesn't have the merit have contributed greatly to the game of basketball and have had huge impacts.

What are yours thoughts on this?

And Kobe set the record for 3s in a game. Kobes favorite player growing up? Dantoni.

If he makes it ( a big if) it will not be because of his nba days, not as player , not as coach.

it will be for his impact at Fiba play both as Player and coach.

My first thought was slap yourself. But then I remembered the all the international B-ball counts to. So he might.....but the NBA really needs to get its own HOF.

The standards for hof is horrible. I would not be surprised who makes it these days.

College coaches get in more frequently than NBA coaches. But he has a chance, it just might take a bit.

in Italy as a point guard when little jelly bean kobe use to look up to him sure , In the NBA as a coach with that 5 seconds or less climax offense and now a grown kobe talking down to him nope.

Now that you mention it the Heat would be deadly running his Offense. As long as they had a defensive coach it would be a perfect fit.
