View Full Version : 6th Annual PSD Player Rankings #8 PF In The NBA? (Volume: VI)

Hey guys, It is that time of year again! Once again we kick of the PSD NBA Off-Season Player Rankings. This is the 6th year I have done this on PSD and it always brings some great discussion and debate. Please keep things civil and discuss who you feel is most fitting and deserving of being voted in each poll.

A lot has changed since last season. Lebron James and the Miami Heat are back to back NBA champions after an exciting 7 game series win over the Spurs. Let start the discussion since lots has changed since the start of last season. Please TRY AND VOTE FOR THE BEST PLAYER AND DON'T BE A HOMER. I will leave the poll open for one day and than we can carry on to the next best player at that position. I will add more players after each round. I have also included the results of those last 5 years so everyone can see how much things have changed...Enjoy.

Due to some people complaining that the rule was not written for the PG poll; in order to be eligible for these rankings, players must of played in 10 or more games last season. Thank you.

REMEMBER this is based on who is the best player, not the player who has the potential to be the best

I went Ibaka.

Zach Randloph? He's not top 10

If your strictly going by last season, sure, but I think he's proven enough over his career, and especially since he has been in Memphis to give him the nod. I mean if Love got #1 after last season, with only a year or 2 before that of #1 type production, than I think ZBo should get similar treatment to Dirk after being 20-10 for about a full decade and helping turn the Memphis team into a contender over the past 4-5 years.

Pau should be where Garnett is and Garnett shouldnt even be in the top 10.

KG is far and away the best defender on the list - that has to count for something, right?

I am torn between Ibaka and West. I'm going Ibaka for his newfound offensive game last season to go with his elite rim protection, coupled with being a big piece of the core of an elite championship team, even though I respect the hell out of West and think the Indy team falls off a cliff without him as he is the heart and soul of that team and they revolve their bully ball/tough guy identity around him.

I don't think the last 3 lists were as terrible as some suggest. Obviously I have my differences with a few things here or there but that's to be expected.

But this list does suck, hard. It certainly is much harder to make than the first three because there are so many players so equally talented, yet at the same time they all do things very differently. I really dislike the last two picks, but whatever. A lot of great players will be left off.

well, to start off Kg and Pau should be on the center list since basically its what they are now and have been playing heavy minutes at the position.

Why? Pau didn't play C last year and with Kaman there he'll certainly be listed as a PF again. The Lakers' backup PF right now is Elias Harris...or Jordan Hill if he's converted to a stretch 4 like MDA wants. But those aren't starting caliber options. Pau is their "power forward", right?

KG being listed as a PF is consistent with what MHC did with Paul George. He was a center last year, but next year he will be a PF again alongside Brook at C.

I will also mention that naming people to positions these days is much tougher than ever. MHC deserves some slack with that in mind. A lot of guys aren't clear cut one-position players. It's compounded by the fact that teams are now using more non-traditional lineups where the positions aren't as obvious.

kaman is going to be sixth man.
Hill+ Pau will be 4-5

We'll see, but it's kind of a silly thing to complain about because Pau has been playing PF for years and years now and it's not an absolute given that he will play most of the time at the 5.

Pau is better off as a center, and the paint should be his to dominate this year, but the Hill experiment is TBD and can Kaman really play a true 4? IDK. It all plays into my overarching point: position definitions are tough and we should cut MHC some slack.

If the Lakers were a WCF team last year or anywhere close to it, I'd give him the benefit of the doubt. I place value on being a core piece of a great team.

Yet the Knicks could only manage to hover around .500 and once Amare and his exceptional statline were removed, we went on monster winning streaks led by our inefficient core of chuckers...

People need to stop voting Anthony Davis or Amare Stoudemire based on potential and/or what they might have done in a limited amount of playing time. A player's health is a pretty big indicator of how good they were. The fact remains that the former missed more than 21 percent of the season, while the latter played 35 percent of the season.

People don't think very clearly. But I also think the original poster doesn't create a clear enough title. The way he words it, it looks like he's asking who's the best right now, moving in to next season.

Agreed... I've always done these on the year they just had. I take into account next year but most weight goes to the year they just had.
