At first, I was debating whether to post this article here. But on second thought, with the quality of topics, and posts here it will fit right in. I think its awesome.

I think its already been refuted that JR doesn't own it but I think he was riding in it/driving it. The car has logos all over it and I think the logos are a company owned by his buddy who owns the tank.

I'm not his accountant or anything... but isn't that truck worth about 20-25% of his income this season after taxes?

That's what came into my head when I saw this. If he bought this (which it doesn't look like he did) he's a ****ing idiot.

Points for originality and nuclear apocalypse readiness. When **** hits the fan J.R. is gonna be rollin' like dead reckoning...son.

Maybe some wacked out fan is sending him death threats or something? It's kind of silly but really not that bad considering the garages I'm sure some of these guys have full of maclarens and ferraris that cost as much or more.

I'm positive JR Smith will continue to be immensely wealthy long after he is done playing in the NBA...congrats on the purchase, should get a lot of use in NYC.

This was my favorite line:

Flush with a new four-year, $24 million contract from New York, Smith has apparently spent nearly half a million to purchase something to keep him safe from grenade attacks

Zombie apocalypse, man. It's perfect for zombies.

Also, I'm pretty sure that technically it's not a tank, it's an APC.

I ain't even mad at him. It looks badass, and ultimately at the end of the day its his earned money, do with what he pleases, and what he pleases is a legal badass tank SUV that most guys wouldn't mind 5mins behind the wheel of

I don't think that a car worth half a mil is that over the top for the money he is on. It's like an average wage person buying a 40k car in my mind..

where I see it, its just humor seeing people call him a IDIOT, LMFAO..... hes smart enough to be in his position to make millions, he diserves that right, cuz he was the one who put himself in that situation. say what u want, but your in bottom of ocean of failure, while he on top with his yacht, scream idiot to him all you want from the bottom of ocean of failure, he wont hear you!

You're right, considering the state of the forum, we shouldn't try and improve it, doing the wrong thing is easier, just contribute to the garbage, right? Thanks for at least letting us know you are part of the problem, and not the solution.

See thats what I'm saying if u have the money why not. It's your right to spend it as you please. If he bought a f50 or an Enzo would that make it any better. Also as a prior service Marine I have to say that's a bad *** truck I wish I had one!

It's diesel so he's saving money with fuel efficiency.

As others mentioned, its not all that different than if he bought a Ferrari, which no one would even be mentioning. Also, he might not have even bought the tank, just rented it for a day to have a laugh.
Either way, yes, athletes are dumb with their money.

Cars are an investment like any other. Drive around for a few months, get your enjoyment out of it, then flip it for something else.
