Yes, this is really him and you can confirm it by checking his twitter. I felt I had to post this with the growing sentiment that Westbrook, Parker, or some other guard is the best PG in the league when it's really not close.

who would have thought that a stats nerd GM would think Paul was the best?

Is there really an argument the past 6 years who the best PG is?

Another thread about something 90% of NBA fans know...

Dwight is raw offensivly
Paul is the best pg in the league....

What's next? Lebrons the best player in the league?

There is actually quite a bit of people against Chris Paul because of the "not getting out of the second round" business.

It's why I made the thread because I saw far too many people knocking Paul for stupid nonsense.

Hey we could always bump the warriors rocket thread but I don't think anyone wants that till we atleast play eachother once.

Chris Paul IS the best point guard in the league. That isn't a knock on any other point guard in the league...he is just that good.

I am just confused as to why Daryl Morey saying it makes any difference. He is a good GM. He knows statistics incredibly well. There are also guys who write articles, do scouting, are incredible with analytics and and statistics that have all said this, and ones who have said otherwise. Daryl Morey is not the authority in anything, so I am not sure why him saying this makes it post worthy.

Regardless of my confusion over, why another knowledgeable basketball guy calling Chris Paul the best point guard in the league, is important , Morey is right.

I agree with that as well. Being stuck in the middle is the worst place to be in the NBA.

I don't understand why so many are down on what Philly is doing. I would be honestly thrilled if i was a Sixers fan. Its the type of fun rebuilding process i'll never get to experience rooting for the Knicks.

Paul has been the best PG in the NBA every year since 2008, possibly before. Every advanced stat agrees. Not only does every advanced linear star agree, but the reality is that Paul is historically good and will be a top5 PG when he hangs them up. None of these other guys are historically great in that sense.

stats nerd or not it doesn't take a non player or a guru of playing and watching for 60yrs combined to realize that he has been one of the top PG's sine his inception, he was a MVP candidate in 08' and hasn't looked back since when healthy, he was a MVP candidate this past season, 5 years later

you are who you are until rings get involved, and now stat nerds

big up to the stat nerds, they keep it going like dems vs repubs

60yrs of player-teaching-analyzing vs non player stat nerd, who wins? they both have CP3 as top or one of the top players in the league

no stats needed for the 60yr vet

Last 6 years I assume you never saw Derrick Rose play? Ask Chris Paul he has been dominated by Rose in every game they have played I think the last game against Paul Rose had 29 points and 16 assists and block his shot. Rose was physically handling Paul with ease in fact Paul have never played in a game against Rose and won.

nah, he actually wasn't, he just played for the superior team and had the great story (at that point, the public hated the clear cut MVP, and Rose was able to sneak one away from Bron).

Rose the best no lie sorry paul he better at passing I give him that though.

Rose has 137 games since the start of the 2011-2012 season (inc playoffs) where he might be considered a reasonable match vs Paul as the best PG in the NBA. But given all the games missed, he's got to be taken down a few pegs.

Chris Paul has 453 games since 2007-2008 where he is clearly the best PG in the NBA.

Besides Bulls and Rose fans I can't even imagine anyone else making this claim.

absolutley... if you consider d.rose mvp season. also toni parker has a case for last season.

bagwell368

They've only played 5 games vs each other total, and Paul has played better:

Less TOV 2.0 > 3.6
Better FG% .507 > .403
STL 2.4 > 1.6
PPG 18.4 > 17.6 - and he took 1.2 FGA AND 1.4 TFA per game less doing it

You were saying?

Firstly, it's not at all clear that Rose was better than Paul that 1 year AND there is no clear case that Parker was better than Paul last year. WHAT IS TOTALLY clear is that neither of those guys has any standing to claim they are the better PG's than Paul when they were all playing (and of course Rose gets a big x mark for his injury too) over the last six years - or 3 in Rose's case.

Actually, Chris Paul is better in head to head match ups. Beats Rose pretty consistently in that regard.

I believe it's been covered. Paul was better that season, he simply didn't play in the east with the top defense in the league, in a year where voters went out of their way to make sure Bron didn't get his MVP.

Rose has never lost to paul.... and the trend play wise has CLEARLY turned towards rose's favor.

seems to me you have discredited what rose acomplished that season. It wasnt simply a case of everyone hating lebron. That is a pretty easy claim to make. I can see where you are going with it though seeing how social media is so huge. But even though people hate lebron, the respect for his game remains. he is clearly and widley considered the best player in the game. Even by most of his haters. lets not count the kiddies on psd.

I am not saying that rose was clearly better. I simply stating that he has a case and its debatable. I also think toni parker made a strong case for himself last season.

I dunno, hawkeye is a pretty good poster. Im pretty sure he has something to back up him claims. but I havent discussed this enough with him to know either way. i dont know him to be a hater.

Maybe he truly just feels that paul was better that year. I beg to differ, but to each his own. its mostly opinion based anyways.

I personally think toni parker is more reliable and durable then either player. but thats a different discussion all together. doesnt mean i think he is better. just more durable.

Team sport.

Head to head, Chris Paul kills him and it's not close. Hell, we have Morey on our side. I know it's an argument from authority, but you aren't going to be able to reasonably posit that Rose is better than Paul.

Maybe we should make one of some coach saying that LeBron is the best player in the NBA since that's something that most people don't know either right
