This is purely in good fun. A few posters on here are pretty high on Greg Oden and even think he will be a productive starting center. Some of us on here do not think he will play more than a few games. With that being said, how quick do you think Oden goes down for the season?

They're gonna go REAL slow with him. I'd be surprised if he plays much, if at all, early on. I actually think it's gonna work out well. I have no reasons why I think that, just a hunch I guess. I think he'll survive the season.

He was playing 25 minutes a game last time he went down. He's not gonna see that for a very long time, if ever, in Miami.

11-20, IF he gets some good quality minutes. But I doubt he will see much PT.

Horrible thread idea. Let's all hope he doesn't get hurt and is able to resurrect some of his game. I'm not going to speculate on when or if he get's injured, though I'm sure many will wish him to get injured sadly and only because he chose Miami. Classless...

I don't. I hope he can come back and be completely healthy and be the player we saw in college and translate that into the NBA. But I just answered the OPs question, because I don't think he will stay healthy, but that doesn't mean I don't want him too.

this. i don't see him playing much at all before christmas and maybe even the allstar break. he will be eased into it very slowly and gradually. the heat don't need him for the regular season, just the playoffs and that is what they'll keep in mind as oden and the season progresses.

here's what Miami should do:
Zero regular season back-to-backs allowed for Oden.
Zero 24+ minute games during the regular season.
Don't allow him to crack the 20+ minute mark until March.
Use him for a quarter a game during the early months.
Sit him during blowouts.
Focus on keeping him serviceable for the post season season, his regular season production is meaningless for this team.

When the post-season starts he'll hopefully be giving them 24 good minutes a game and that will be all that LBJ, Wade and Bosh will really need to lock up the three-peat.

I'm not rooting against him, I'm just not rooting for him as much as I was before. I chose 31-40 but I'm thinking more along the lines of 60.

The worse part is he has a player option for the second year. I assume it wouldn't be a huge cap hit, but when he goes down he will opt into that deal to get whatever money is owed to him.

The Bynum deal has some sort of out clause in January, and unless the Heat have that in there as well, it's a poorly constructed contract.

not really, its for the vet min. other teams were willing to give him 3 million per year, the heat won't even pay him that much in 2 years.

Where is the option for 1 second to 10 seconds? I'd vote that.

I don't think he'll play much. Oden is not basketball ready. He hasnt played in four years

I'll give him a month.

But hopefully he can play 82 games. That would be quite a feat.

I picture it being something along the lines of like they just think he is starting to play well enough to be a starter, and injury strikes.

NYKNYGNYY
08-10-2013, 07:25 AM
16 because he won't play full minutes that's why I'm even giving him that much time

I think that Bruon is right. That said, I am not sure he makes it more than 20 games before going down. When that is will matter a lot. I'd they start him late he could potentially possibly help the heat get past a big opponent. Who knows.

If Miami is smart he won't see the floor until around Christmas. He needs to get in good game shape first. Once he's back I see about ten mpg until the playoffs. At that point his increase should go no more than 20 mpg. If they do that he has a shot to stay healthy this season

Greg Oden is going to play all 82 games this season because he has 3 legs - at least that's what the ladies say.

Hahahahahahaha!!!!! Worse #1 pick ever so far. Didn't he tear his ACL getting out of bed before? I remember watching him at Ohio St then he broke his wrist. Still young but pure glass.

IDK if he will get reinjured, but I doubt he plays more that 40-45 games at all. I think they just monitor his minutes severely and his mpg ave will be less than 15.
