View Full Version : How come Daniel "Boobie" Gibson is getting no love on the FA market?

I mean the dude once scored 31 pts off the bench on 5-5 from downtown in the 2007 ECF, I mean c'mon, he's just as good as Gary Neal:

much better? Gibson is a career 40% 3pt shooter. Granted he's underperformed the last couple years but he is the type of player who needs a superstar to get him open looks. like when Lebron was here. Gary Neal had a couple HOF'ers to get him open looks. Doubt Neal would do much for us.

Pretty sure Gibson shoots 40% from the field for his career lol. Gibson was hurt and clearly makes a living off of open shots created by Superstars (Lebron).

Gary Neal had 3 really good players to get him open looks and also had a real good post-season so teams will be beating his door down. I like Neal and think he's a good shooter AS LONG AS you have a superstar who can create open shots for him. I believe boobie can do the same for you as we seen in the past.

6 years ago...what has he done lately? and looking at his last 2 years looks like he has not done much but shoot in the mid 30%

My guess is it has something to do with the nickname "Boobie."

I think he's every bit as good as Gary Neal. Undersized sharp shooter. It's no shock he stock plummeted when LBJ left just like Neal's will too on the Bucks.

35% and 34% from the field the last 2 seasons? Gary Neal is better than that.

It seems a few posters missed the sarcasm...the guy I quoted also said at one point in the past 4 months, that Gibson was a pretty good defender, which is almost as asinine as saying he's as good as Gary Neal...there's a reason half the league is interested in one guy and not the other

I think he'd fit in Miami, he played his best ball alongside LBJ and with the departure of Miller, I think he's better than James Jones and could step in and fill that spot up shooter role, nothing would be lost on the defensive end either :)

Cleveland Cavaliers guard Daniel Gibson turned himself into New Orleans police on Monday to face a second degree battery charge, according to a WDSU news report.

Gibson, 27, surrendered to the New Orleans Police Departmentís 8th District headquarters in the French Quarter where he was then processed and posted bond for his release a shortly thereafter.

I would say the reason he's getting no love is because he sucks. He shot 34% from the field last year lol. He actually shot 34.4% on 3s. So his 3pt% was higher than his FG%. He also is an awful defender, and had a PER of 7.75 (15 being average).

Daniel Gibson turned himself into the New Orleans Police Department and has been charged with second-degree battery on Monday.
The incident took place at this year's Essence Festival, which was held earlier this month, but not all the facts are known at this point. The charge of second-degree battery means that the offender "intentionally inflicts serious bodily injury" to the victim. We'll have more on this as the updates become available. Gibson is an unrestricted free agent

That was in 2007. Last I checked we're entering the 2013-14 season.

He's been a terrible player lately and just turned himself in for battery charges. He was never anything more than a decent 8th option who COULD get hot every once in a blue moon. He hasn't even shot the three well lately.

Not a rotation player on a decent team...not even close.

that was in 2007. what has he done recently? his defense sucks as well, and he cannot slash as good as Neal

Neal is a better player overall, even when Gibson was in his prime.

However, Neal would probably have a hard time now that he is not in the San Antonio system

It's funny how some posters make smart *** comments and act like I'm a fool, when I was obviously being sarcastic, making them the fools! Too funny!

The whole point was to draw attention to how asinine prodigy's statements were on Gibson...he not only said he was a pretty good defender, but also that he was as good as Gary Neal...no one on the Cavs board agreed with him and I thought I'd share his idiotic posts as some humor for the rest of the NBA forum, except the joke is apparently on them...

His trophy room is funny, quite a random collection of players, some are UT connection but still, there's more items of other players than of him:

I love Boobie, it's hard not to like him. Great guy, but I just think he was a bit overpaid. I still think he's got a spot on an NBA roster. If he's healthy, he can drain the 3. I hope he settles his business in New Orleans and gets back to bball soon.

Speaking of moon, what's been going on with Jamario Moon lately? He was also part of the scrubs unit that LeBron had around him in CLE.

Hoopshype or hoopsworld a few weeks back mentioned Bucks were one of a couple teams link to Gibson. But since then, Bucks added Delfino and Neal.

Another example of you are who you are

had this been 07' summer fresh off FINALS trip then im sure he would have received at least a STUCKEY or SMITH type deal, or LIN

but catching a hot streak and being legendary franchise is 2 different sport worlds, BOOBIE being the former

a hot player has to cash in while he is hot, unless he plays in LA market then he is forever Hollywood hot

3RDASYSTEM

Once Lebron left Cleveland, Boobie became himself again.

Exactly, and even more so BOOBIE was himself pre or with or post LEBRON

Whats the diff. between STUCKEY and BOOBIE? don't think too hard

the more I read these new threads I feel I have to take at least 5pct credit since I have been schooling people on a players game is a players game from college level really, especially if you're really one of the 'best of the best', not hype or media coverage or rings, just when you go live or turn on the tv and that player sticks out like a sore thumb, for the next decade at least

Nah with Gay, Lowry, DeRozan and now Baragnani gone....their competing for playoffs. They almost made it last year after acquiring Gay mid season.

Only Philly is a legitimate rival to the Suns tank :)
