no I think curry is just smart and he took less to win I will be very surprised if wall sins the extension yea he gets his money but the wiz are atlest 4 year away from competing wall could've just sign his qo and became a fa in 2015

I think this means he'll be a Lakers fan in 2015, right? That's how it works? Can a Lakers fan confirm?

Good for Washington. Wall's still 22 and will be worth a max contract eventually. If he hit the market he'd get a max deal anyways.

Curry's injury concerns were why he didn't get a big deal. Wall did miss time, but he doesn't have the same injury concenrs.

Only Parker, Curry, Westbrook and Paul were clearly better than him last season.

And he'll enter next season being only 23. Significantly younger than those guys.

Again, I got no problem with it. Gotta keep your young star.

I feel like after he gets the contract he won't work as hard and will never reach his full potential.

It's either pay him or lose him. I still think he can live up to it if he stays healthy and shows more progression

Good move by Wash. He was coming on strong after his injury last season. As long as his shot continues to improve he'll continue to improve and that contract will be well worth it

That is way too much in my opinion but Hes got the talent to live up to that deal so we'll see.

I seen this "overpaid" comment coming. Being a Wizard fan has been tough, but I'm glad Wall's heart is in D.C! We're not going to be as bad as people think we are. Wall needs to stay healthy and keep improving his jumper. Any team would throw the big $$$ at Wall, so please stop with this "overpaid" comment lol

remember why Washington passed at acquiring Harden last year?

they said if they traded for him, they won't have the money to sign Wall to a max deal.

i'm not surprised by this.

have a feeling Wall will earn that contract and them some, ala James Harden.

sunsfan88

He hasn't even made an All Star team in his life and he's been given the max?

First Eric Gordon, now Wall...when will teams learn!

Harden got a max last year not making an all-star team while in OKC.

Harden got a max last year not making an all-star team while in OKC.

That's cause he was a beast and a very efficient player as a 6th man who everyone knew would become a great player once given starter mins.

He should not get the max. He will, but he shouldn't.

Very true. I think some teams are smarter now (a lot of players are being signed to reasonable deals for the first time in years), but others just won't learn.

The Wizards were competitive when they were all healthy....interesting to see how they do if health is on their side this year.

This contract was penned in Joe Johnson and Rashard Lewis urine.

Max contracts should be able to shoulder a team. John Wall hasn't been able to get to 30 wins even.

Yes his the face of the franchise but he really isn't worth max money. Let him explore free agency cuz I really don't see teams waiting in line to give max money out to Wall. I would say 60 mill/5 year would be fair for both parties. But 16 mill avg. a year??? Get outta here.
He'd only be making less than Paul, Rose and Dwill which is ******** when he hasn't even cracked the top 10 list in pg's yet. His a great young player and all with a lot of potential but like someone else said, he may lack motivation to take his game to the next level once he's guaranteed this contract. We'll see I guess.

TOP PG's

1. Paul
2. Rose
3. Westbrook
4. Curry
5. Parker
6. Rondo
7. Irving
8. Dwill
9. Lawson
10. Jrue Holiday
11. John Wall
12. Damien Lillard
13. Mike Conley

I'd give Wall a 5 year max contract over Parker, Rondo, Deron (iffy), Holiday, Lawson, Conley and Lillard for sure.

Remember, Wall is still younger than everyone on that list besides Kyrie. You're gonna get his prime years, and nothing but his prime years with this deal.

Who from that draft are you taking over him? George and Boogie? Perhaps, but time will tell. Of the top 4 picks he's easily going #1 again.

He'll be a better offensive player than George, and Boogie might be the most talented of the bunch but he's got some mental hurdles to overcome.

in terms of age, sure wall is young. so was rudy gay when he signed his crazy *** contract. . you dont hand out those kind of contracts in the new cba.

also parker > wall. but you were speaking in terms of age, so we'll let that one slide lol.

Sure, but Wall has now had two seasons better (perhaps significantly so) than Gay had before his deal. Gay getting the max was dumb, but that doesn't at all mean this will be. Completely independent acts. John Wall will be a better player than Gay ever was. Hell, his 50 games last season at the age of 22 were better than any 50 game stretch of Gay's career.

I might rather give Parker the max over Wall, that's fair. Maybe I'm getting too carried away with the age thing in that one regard.

He'll get the fat contract but he's going to be stuck in DC. In a few years he'll want out but nobody is going to want to take on that salary....
