Believe me, that surprises no one. Especially the Spurs & their fans

I actually thought the Heat and Spurs would be a Christmas game given the series they just had. At the same time I'm not surprised though. Maybe they will be playing against another team

Please explain why the Lakers have the relevance of being home here?

Wow didn't expect this.I guess the nba likes seeing the Lakers lose every Christmas lol. I expected Lakers vs rockets in L.A and spurs vs heat in San Antonio. Also nets vs Knicks in New York. But whatever lol

U should feel happy they don't have to play on Christmas. I hate these Christmas games

Lol I mean, it's put up or shut up for D-Rose this time. Lebron's proven himself by winning two rings since the last time Rose played, so this time we'll see if that extra rest during the playoffs was worth it or not. Don't wanna hear that "Oh it's his first game back" **** after this either, he had an extra half a year of rest to recover.

Don't really get the Heat/Lakers thing though. Doesn't seem to be that interesting, Heat/Pacers would've been nicer, or Heat/Spurs. Lakers should've been vsing the Rockets if anyone.

Why not Clippers vs HEAT...smh

Big ratings for Bulls vs HEAT... I still remember when the HEAt won their first championship, we had to play the Bulls for are first game, they killed us by 50...smh

I like the opening game. But someone please tell why do the Heat play the Lakers and why will it be in LA instead of Miami? It feels like we always beat Lakers on Christmas. I would still understand if Dwight was still there and Kobe was healthy. But this makes no sense now. It should have been the Spurs. If not I would have loved the Knicks or Nets or OKC or even the rockets. I hope they change it.

I thought the same, but like you not surprised at all. I mean that was one of the best series in a while, and I believe Miami played OKC and Dallas on X-Mas the last 2 seasons. And neither of those games were really close.

Against a team that has so many ?'s coming into this season, I don't get that. If the Lakers have to play on X-Mas, put them against the Clippers or something.

Why the Lakers? No offense to the Lakers but there are better teams than them right now. I know they have the largest fanbase but will people tune in if they don't perform well this season?

MyDRoseLikeDeng

cant wait for opening night! I think this game will benefit the Bulls in the long run, seeing the rings being brought out and seeing a team they despise getting them right in front of their eyes. Should be a hell of a game!

ps.. anyone know when they are releasing the entire schedule

The Lakers won't make the playoffs next season. So why do they get to play on Christmas?

zn23
07-24-2013, 10:03 PM
Only reason is for the ratings, not for competitive reasons. I doubt the Lakers will be ranked top 5 by that time. The NBA is hoping Kobe returns in time, so they can hype it as Kobe vs. LeBron, cause all the fanboys will tune in, even though LeBron has dominated the matchups and the Heat have a 5-1 record over the Lakers since LeBron joined the Heat..

Well another Christmas Loss for Lakers.

Opener is solid.

I still hope there's the NY vs BK game also.

I feel the same way. I mean I know it's not that big a deal, but it's kinda annoying to see Miami not get the home-court benefit of xmas considering they're a back-to-back champion. That said, I'm not too surprised because I already know the reasoning behind it....

Heat should keep their stars at home on Christmas day. Pathetic that they gotta fly all the way to the west coast to play a JV team, likely without Kobe.

Their first game against each other is November 7th.

]A Nov. 7 trip to Houston to meet the Rockets and center Dwight Howard. The NBA is expected to release the schedule in the next several days, but Yahoo! Sports has learned the Lakers and Rockets will meet for the first time within the season's first week at Houston's Toyota Center. Yahoo! Sports

christmas day is okay. as a bulls fan kobe vs lebron is a fun game to me. however, MWP was always fun to watch. without him it kinda makes it a little less exciting.

Heat vs Lakers, again? Was expecting a Heat vs Pacers.

Heat vs Bulls sound great. Return of D-Rose, lots of expectations. Going to be a great and exciting game. Would love to see Heat vs Pacers or NYK vs Nets in Christmas.

Why are the Lakers even playing on Christmas? They aren't going to be a top team. Why are they playing the Heat of all teams? Awful, boring, unfair matchup. Miami will spank LA in LA by 30. What makes the NBA think America wants to see a blowout? Kobe vs LeBron will only be relevant in the first quarter.

On Christmas, would like to see:

Pacers vs Knicks
Rockets vs Lakers
Heat vs Bulls
Thunder vs Clippers
Spurs vs Warriors

Because the #1 draw in the NBA is the Lakers and Kobe still. Just makes business sense for the league.

Looks like the Heat were the number one for Road games while the Bulls were tops at home. Lakers were at the top as well. But still looks like Miami has them beat.

We're playing on Christmas? What a joke. We are irrelevant, but that won't stop the NBA from milking it.

I hope people don't see this as a reason to further hate on the Lakers seeing as this is a league decision.

The heat and bulls both have arenas with larger seating capacities. Nonetheless I wasnt talking about attendance when I said #1 draw. I was referring to generating the most interest financially. Kobe and the Lakers are the #1 draw for the league. That's the reason the Lakers have played every Christmas day on the prime time TV spot since kobes been with them.

Again, it just makes sense for the NBA to have the Lakers play Miami on Christmas day.

People just want to watch LeBron vs Kobe, that's the point. I can understand the business side of it, but it's clear that LAL vs Miami won't be a competitive game. Miami will most likely get bored. I'd much rather see a Pacers vs Miami game to be honest.

Lakers are a Christmas tradition for the league as far as the millennium goes. Guaranteed draw in the afternoon spot. And it makes the league look good to have the stars out at staples on Christmas for the abc debut. They have always played on Christmas since the nba left NBC

That said why the hell isn't BK @ NY? SA @ Miami? Houston @ LA? OKC @ Chicago? Mem @ Clips?

The Lakers are a Christmas Day Tradition just like the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving day is... Maybe just maybe the nba thinks the Lakers will be a pretty good Team this year with Pau back at center and Kobe/Nash healthy by Christmas Day!

Change the title to what's actually important and relevant to the nba forum, the league schedule being announced. I don't care who the heat open against or who they play on opening day.
