If a defender swipes the ball from away and one of his teammates picks it up, then who gets credit for the steal? The guy who swiped it, or the guy who picks up the loose ball?

I'd think the swiper, but I think it's the official scorer's decision

The swiper cause he's the one who got the ball out. But IMO, the guy who picks up the ball should get credited for a rebound also.

i think its the guy who picks up the ball, because that is when the possession is secured.

The Swiper but I do think the scorekeeper can make a subjective call, like if the player hustled crazy to corral the ball, they give him credit .

This is true, but some of you guys would be surprised just how leeway an official scorer has on the stats. Blocks and assists being the most notoriously fudged for the home team. Though in the LA Clippers case over the 2000's, they actually played DOWN their home players production in the stats. Only organization I know of that has done that on a year to year/intentional basis.

Should be the swiper. How about give a full 1 steal to the swiper if he also gets the ball. If someone else's gets the ball after the swiped, they get. 5 each.

the player that swipes the ball loose or tips the pass.

swiper for sure. I dont think the person that secures it should get credit for a rebound though, a shot wasnt taken. Crazy how people award assists when the person scores after ten head fakes and three spin moves later. lol. its cool when the player that gets the assist is on my fantasy team, not the other way around.
