Who are your top 5 favorite players of all time?

Mine are in this order:

1. Ray Allen (I've idolized him since he was on the Bucks. Him, Sam Cassel, and Glen Robinson were deadly on NBA live.)

2. Gary Payton (Greatest Sonic of all time. He played with much swag and confidence)

3. Shawn Kemp ( Him and Payton was a great 1-2 punch. Too bad Jordan beat us in the finals.)

4. Reggie Miller (His clutchness was seond to none. I always admired his sharp shooting ability to move without the ball)

5. Jason Kidd (Big fan of his especially when he played for the Nets)

Honorable mentions: Kevin Durant, Allen Iverson, T Mac, Jeremy Lin, Stephen Curry, James Harden

Kobe Bryant = No other player will Match the longevity sustained by him. Playing at a top level throughout his whole entire career and still continuing to do so. His work ethic, determination, will, drive make him my favorite player of all time hands down like 6:30

Vince Carter (raptor days) this guy single handedly put the raptors on the map and made them relevant. For this he will always be one of my all-time favorites.

Shaquille O'neal = Most dominating player I have ever witnessed perform live. In my humble opinion Shaq would destroy any other C from any other era if he played vs them in his prime. Shaq owned!

Hakeem Olajuwon = Put the rockets on his back for two ships in a row. Could defend shooting guards, could handle and dribble the ball coast to coast, post moves that left defenders confused and bamboozled. Lol .. Most unbelievable skill set on any 7 footer.

Michael Jordan = Should be the first guy on anyone’s list. Made Basketball popular around the world. Living legend, icon! Most fierce competitor ever known.

You don't have any favorite from your team?

Not on the all time list. Remember no Clippers players have ever stuck around and built a legacy like Dirk has for you guys, Duncan for Spurs, Kobe for Lakers etc. A few more years of Griffin and CP3 and I'm sure they will move to the top of my list.

Just a follow up to my list. Most of the players I grew up LOVING I just don't appreciate as much any more. When I was in third grade, for example, I LOVED Kobe because I LOVED Shaq. I had a German pen pal and we'd talk about Kobe and the Lakers all the time (this is like 97-98). Kobe was so likable at the time. I remember vividly lying on the floor as a kid keeping self-made box scores of Lakers games on NBC on NBC. My love for them didn't last long, obviously, but there's that. But he and those Lakers teams were a big reason I like basketball.

Shaq was my first favorite player, but over time I've developed too much animosity towards him and sadly don't consider him an all time favorite. I wish I could just forget everything about his career that annoyed me but I can't.

I grew up mostly in Central New York and all my friends were Knicks fans. We'd emulate Knicks players and I'd always be John Starks or Larry Johnson...so I kinda liked them too. A lot of Magic players have come and gone. Grant Hill would be there for sure if he stayed healthy. He's in my top-10 for sure though. I loved Steve Francis before he came to Orlando, but he was trash with us so that dampened him.

And everyone my age was a Bulls fan at some time in their life. I'd stay up late with my dad watching them win ring after ring. I never had MJ posters or clothing like everyone else, but I was a huge fan. I don't revere him as much today, though.

So basically, my top-5 list omits a lot of people that I've probably rooted for more than those guys because of changes in my fandom and how their careers progressed.

Whattt so then you're only like 23 years old and you act like you know everything? I was hoping you were at least 30.
Anyways I agree with this for a lot of my players I grew up loving, as I grew older I realized how much I can't stand their personalities and the actions they took..

I still do like Shaq tho, just not nearly as much as I did when I was younger. On the contrary I HATED Stockton when I was younger because of dumb reasons. Honestly I think I started hating him because in NBA live 97 or w.e my friends would piss me off with him and his high shorts and stealing.. Now he's one of my favorite players ever. I absolutely love his game, respect the hell out of what he's done and how genuine and humble he is as a person. His whole HOF speech was about other people and he actually meant it (unlike many speeches).

Growing up I was obsessed with Tmac and VC as well, happy to say I still love them. Probably the only two, along with Kidd, I was able to like as a young one AND as an adult.

It's tough to list five, but I'd lean:

Bird [the 1st great player I followed closely - loved his tenacity]
Barkley [wasn't like any other player - pitbull - so fun to watch]
MJ [still the only athlete I've seen where I KNEW when a game was about to be taken over]
NBA Past = Russell [The more I read and the more I see on Bill, the more he impresses me]
NBA Now = Curry [GS fan, and he's a big reason why the franchise has electricity right now]
