I like it
The New Orleans Pelicans are likely to make a $3 million offer to Greg Oden.

Oden will meet with the Pelicans next week.

The Dallas Mavericks, Sacramento Kings, Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs are also pursuing Oden https://twitter.com/SpearsNBAYahoo

If he can stay healthy he can become a top 7 center

3 million is not too bad of a gamble. If he can stay healthy it's a good deal. But he does have to prove it first.

that's a really REALLY big "IF." It's been half a decade since he's been drafted and how many games has he played in? they might as well flush that 3 million down the toilet.

I would have liked to see the Suns go after Oden since they have a good medical staff. Low risk high reward type situation for the Pelicans.

It is a low risk, high reward move, but he can't stay healthy.

The guys been working hard to make a comeback the Blazers medical staff was incompetent in handling his injuries. They rushed him back resulting in constant surgeries. He's finally worked back his knees correctly. He can play if he's healthy.

Yes, but not as a top 10 Center, or all-star... more like a role player if he can stay healthy.

I say Emeka Okafor impact.

I would love for him to sign there.
Nice to see non free agent destinations get a big name. Bynum with the Cavs and Oden with the Pelicans.

Pretty shocked the Blazers didn't try to pursue him again.

Oden isn't a big name in the sense of "big name" he was a once promising talent that has been injured since day one.

love this but I think Miami will give him a similar enough offer to where he goes there

To be real, I think Oden has a future in the league, and I have been saying this before we were even in the discussion of going after him. I think as long as his minutes are managed he will be good, he did spend a whole year to rehab it without rushing back into things

How about first having an NBA career?......he hasnt played basketball in almost 4 years, his skills have probably deteriorated.

Sure his size is good. But blocking shots is about timing and scoring takes finesse. Right now (if healthy), he's looking at a rebounder and put-back dunk type career

Doesn't do much for them immediately, until he can prove he can play in the NBA and stay healthy at the same time.
