What are some Possible Christmas (X-Mas Day) Games and Matchups for the 2014 Season?

I don't think a SA vs Miami would be that appealing to be honest.

I think these would be the best ones:

Chicago vs Miami would be epic.

Houston vs OKC would be epic

Knicks vs Pacers

Grizzlies vs Spurs

Clippers vs Nets

What matchups would you say?

Clippers or Lakers? I didn't put LA because of Kobe's injury and not for sure thing he would be back fully healthy by then. Also Lakers have been on last 10 years or so, so someone new would be good.

Why would the HEAT the defending champs go to CHI to play the bulls??

Rockets @ Lakers
Griz @ Thunder
Nets @ Knicks or vice versa doesn't matter same city lol

Also try to get Pacers,Bulls,Warriors and Nuggets on.

Watching the Lakers get blown out while their fans make jackasses of themselves is not something I want to see on the Christmas day slate.

I think they do 5 games this is how I's schedule it:

Nets/Knicks
Bulls/Clippers(Doc vs Thibs, Two best PGs)
Heat/Spurs
Pacers/Thunder
Rockets/Warriors

Won't say fluke, but being Down 3-2 back to back seasons with HCA and down 5 with 30 seconds left in game 6 down 3-2 is definitely not dominating.

2012 the Heat win because 2 of the top 5 players in the league are out for the entire playoffs.

07-17-2013, 11:50 PM
Let's pretend I even agree that Rose was a top 5 players in 2011-12.....

So the 6th seed Magic were going to take out the Pacers and the HEAT playing on the road?

And... the same Bulls who were beat the previous year by the same HEAT, and lost to a putrid Philly team in 6 games without Rose? If a team goes from 1 seed to losing fairly easily to an 8th seed because of losing one guy, it's not because the player they lost is that special (95 Bulls made ECF without Jordan), it's because the team is actually not that good in the first place. Don't try and feed me this garbage about Miami not wanting any part of the Bulls, because I'm not buying it.

Bulls were not the same team the previous year. Both Noah and Boozer were better and we actually had a SG. Noah was out from game 3 onward vs Philly. Hell took Boston 7 to beat Philly and then Boston was up 3-2 on a healthy Miami team. And the 1994 Bulls without MJ did not make the ECF.

Knicks vs Nets.
**** will go down. Guaranteed.

Heat vs Bulls
I could see this being their first meeting of the season. I think it'd be a pretty good one, but that's just me. Many others don't see it as that exciting, but with Derrick Rose being all hyped up for the last year, it would be time for him(by him I mean his fans) to put up or shut up.

OKC vs LAC
Two top tier teams, should be interesting

Houston vs LAL
Will Kobe have his 'revenge'? Or will Dwight prove he's much better off with Harden instead?

Not sure bout the 5th one tbh.

Not as big as Chicago and Miami. I think everyone would tune into that. Most people would not watch Spurs vs Heat on Xmas. Not really a major marquee matchup. Last year it was fine because Lebron vs Durant was 1 vs 2.

although that would be nice, nba on christmas has become a big thing, and its not something they are going to do away with anytime soon.

although many people are off christmas, there are still people who work, so i am not going to feel bad for a bunch of nba players who have to play basketball on a holiday when they get paid millions to do so.

there is plenty of time for family before and after the game. i am sure their families like the trade off of making millions to play ball for a few hours on Christmas.

also, i am not christian, but isn't Christmas eve a bigger deal than the actual Christmas day? there are no games on Christmas so thats a plus.

It's not the players I feel bad for, it's their families. Sure other people work Christmas (I've worked two in the last three) but they don't travel across the country for 9 months of the year and spend their summers in foreign countries and doing PR stuff. Their families rarely get to see them as it is, has to be tough on the kids etc

And it's not just players, what about the coaches? The referees? The medical staff? The commentators? The people keeping track of the box score? The ball boys? The security staff at the arena? The people working the box office at the arena? The people on the concession stands? The list goes on.

ya, i hear ya, but again as i stated and u alluded to, u have had to work 2 of the past 3 Christmases, and there are also others who have to do so, so there are many more people who are working Christmas day who do not make a lot of money to begin with, as opposed to NBA players.

i know u said what about the refs, coaches, there families, i agree, but as we all know, sports is a business first and foremost, and the NBA is in the spotlight on Christmas, so its not anything they are going to do away with, and if memory serves me correct, they have only increased the amount of games.

u brought up how the majority of the people who work on Christmas don't travel across country for 9 months of the year and spend summers in foreign countries doing pr stuff, while u r right, the majority of the players who do that stuff are the highest paid players, so yes, they are away from there families for a good amount of time, but they make a ton of money, and they also get to retire a lot earlier than the average person.

it sucks in general, but the NBA will never do away with it because it brings in too much money.

in life in general there are always pros and cons to everything. so in this case, the pros are lots of money, u get to a game for your job, early retirement, and even the non highest paid players, like avg ones can still retire early as long as they dont spend there money like a fool like many athletes do too often, etc, while the cons are u got to play on holidays possibly, u are not with ur family as often as u would like to be, etc.
