Larkin will be the back up PG calm down.

He will take over in a few years of the new era when Dirk retires

He will be the next Ty Lawson mark my words

Calderon is the perfect person to run Carlisle offense

We are good when we had PGs like Nash and Kidd

Calderon can run the offense with 8+ assist a game

Hey LTBaby, remember when you thought the Nets franchise was going downhill yadda yada and CONFIDENT D-will was going to sign with Dallas last summer. and AFTER dwill did re-sign thought "nooooo" mavs never going to rebuild, will always be contenders.

Welp. Hope Dallas is happy with Mark Cuban's complete destruction of a championship team.

Wow they just gave guy a big contract. Far bigger than I would have thought. Would have loved him on the Rockets but not with that contract.

Until Dirk retires, you do whatever you have to do.

Calderon is actually an underrated PG.

He will run the flow offense that Kidd did and Kidd was like 35 when he came to mavs

He's a highly underrated player. He isn't super flashy or anything, but he's a great floor general who can shoot and has the best AST / TO ratio in the league.

Calderon, Ellis, and Bynum or Milsap?

Would have to be Bynum, as I doubt Dirk and Millsap would work together.

Jose - Ellis - Marion - Dirk - Bynum

Is that even possible financially?

This. I was hoping the Rockets could have picked him up in FA or by initiating a SnT with the Pistons for his services.

Very underrated PG's. One of my favorites, guess Mavs are going to give up on Howard and focus on new pieces. Calderon is definitely a big start.

Thanks! Everyone saying the Mavs messed up the last 2 years.

The Heat won the title the last 2 years, what did we miss out on? Hahaha We won a championship 2 years ago. We will be fine.

We have had the second most wins in the last decade behind the Spurs and the only big name we had was Dirk.

We don't need big names, just good coaching and a good TEAM

We can still trade Marion (9.4 mil) for a pick and have 20 mil in cap space after signing Calderon and don't forget MLE and mini MLE

People don't realize that Dallas has a radically different roster pretty much every season and they always find a way to make the playoffs. Last year Dirk was coming off surgery and missed almost half the season and they were only 4 games behind Houston. Mavs will be fine. I'd recommend Mavs fans not try to argue about "how good they will be" because the NBA can be a crapshoot and every opposing fan will believe what they want.

I'm a big Jose supporter. He's the king of class. Great shooter and team first guy. He raises every players PER. Having said all of that... I did not think he would get this steep of a deal and what really shocks me is the duration. 4 years is too long for Jose. Cuban is throwing money around. I hope he spent that knowing others would come.

Jose you will be missed in Toronto.

He's running the flow offense Jason Kidd did.

He came to Dallas at 35 years old

What's wrong with Calderon at 31? He doesn't rely on athleticism so who cares

He was 1st in 3 point % last year and 2nd in ast to to ratio

He will make it easy for Dirk again

Then Shane Larkin will take over in a few years

With my dallas fans hate dwill (only created bc they were completley mocking the nets fan base last year thinking they would get dwill), great pick up (although not the length) for Dallas.

Calderon deserves to be a starting point guard for a good team. If they can surround him with some mobile bigs/wings then Dallas will be fun to watch. Rooting for him and Dirk.

As I said, I'm a very big supporter of Jose. I will say that he is overly protective of the ball. Sure the assists to turnover ratio is very good, but as a fan you will crave to see him push the ball.

The Mavs will be getting an extremely underrated PG and an extremely impressive professional in Jose Calderon. I loved him when he was with the Raps and I'm definitely going to miss the stability our team had with him running the point. Now, I'm surprised at the terms and $ value of the deal Cuban offered. Seems like a bit of an over payment especially considering Calderon's age. Also, seems like this new deal is quite similar to the one he signed with Toronto five years ago (which I thought was pretty crazy back then so you could imagine how desperate I think the Mavs are by offering this much).

Anyways, I think this is a good move in the short run. Mavs fans will love Calderon and what he brings to the table.

This guy can't defend his own shadow.

I don't see how these inept GMs keep their jobs... no way is he worth $7M a season.

Well, what he lacks defensively, he makes up in offense. Calderon could easily score 17+ back at Toronto but he's a very passive player. Maybe he might take on more of the offensive load with O.J Mayo gone. With Dirk coming back, I'm pretty sure Dallas plans on signing someone who can make an impact. Mark Cuban is all about winning and I'm pretty sure he'll do what it takes to keep them in contention. I like Calderon, only flaw in his game is his defense.

To Calderon's defence, what made him look worse defensively than what he actually was, was his big men's (Bargs, Bosh, JO, etc.) inability to play help defense. You put a defensive anchor to protect the paint behind Calderon and all of a sudden his defense isn't as bad.
