Mayo are working on a multi-year deal that could have Mayo earning more than $40 million over the next four years. The two sides are expected to reach an agreement at some point today.

well hell figure if SPLITTER can get like 36mill after a reported 45mill then im sure MAYO is worth every penny, even AL is worth far more than both SPLITTER and a little more than MAYO,based more on seniority than actual hardwood game, but AL has small edge since he is 20-10 type guy while MAYO has game has not been as consistent which is key when ranking players

Mayo and Jennings backcourt? Not too shabby....

A bit pricy I thought realistically he was in in the 5 mil per year range

Makes me wonder how desperate some GM's are, goodness. He's a WV guy so I like him, but I won't miss him on Dallas. See ya :/

Mayo should take less money and go play for OKC...fulfill the "Harden role" on that team.

That's an insult to Monta who can actually get to the rim, has a crossover, etc

I wonder if Jr was offered the same amount by the bucks. If so and he turned that down to come back to NY?! Jr is the man. anyway the bucks just replaced monta with mayo. Same players basically

So you're saying it was basically a lateral move?

Whatever OKC can give him in their budget.

Whatever OKC can give him in their budget.

So if they could only afford to give him vet min then he should take that over 10m/yr? :eyebrow:

I know they can give him more than vet's min. Whatever they can give him without going over the salary cap.

It would have to be pretty close to 10 in order for him to realistically choose the paycut with the opportunity of winning. Let's not forget this guy isn't Lebron in a sense that he doesn't have a heap of endorsements worth a ton to compensate for his paycut.

Harden got a ton of endorsements in OKC so maybe if OKC is winning and Mayo grows a really big weird or an afro or something, endorsements will come lol.

I don't think there is a team in pro sports that makes mind boggling moves like the Bucks.

OJ must be in Heaven right now!

I'm a huge OJ Mayo fan but wow. At this early in his career, to be throwing that kind of money his way is a risk. He is the type of player that can get disinterested. Bored. And when he's comfortable with a nice paycheck, I can only imagine. I wouldn't be surprised if he coasts and takes it easy now.

Its almost how Baron Davis was. Some games, he'd be on fire because he was motivated. But other games, he'd disappear. Its almost the same for Mayo.

Apparently it's 3 years 24 million, which is a much better deal, still overpaid though.
