He averaged 15 ppg just two season ago. Got traded to Detroit in a salary dump and got no PT since they had no intention of keeping him. I would like to see him catch on with a contender, he could be a good pickup, but there has been no mention of his name anywhere.

He was an athlete who lost his legs. When it happens guys like this go away quickly. If he's got anything left I'd like him back on the Clippers on a minimum deal.

Resting year for him. Honestly though I wish Lawrence Frank had played him more this past season, always liked Mags.

This. He is indifferent on defense, can't really shoot, get to the rim, or rebound. All he really does is draw fouls.

So then how does he draw fouls?

Don't rule it out. Doc coached him in ORL and recruited him to BOS hard the offseason he ended up signing with GS. You guys need depth at SF behind Butler (who might get traded himself anyway) so there could be a fit there on a vet min deal.

There was a poster in my high school library with Corey Maggette dunking and 'READ' printed in big letters next to his head. Always made me laugh.

This. He's terrible otherwise. And when he does go to the FT line he has one of the most annoying pre-shot routines. Can't stand him.

I get what you're saying, even when he was with us I knew I was only rooting for him because hes a Clipper, I didn't really like his game, but at the same time, hes been a great pro. Hes put up with alot of **** over the years (starting/benching wise) with very little complaint and hes done some truly heroic stuff with his money (like when Sterling basically gave a death sentence to one of his employees, Maggette was among those who stepped up and paid for his cancer treatment).

Seems like a great person, and although he lacked the diverse skills to become a star, you gotta admire a guy who put in that much work with his body and was never afraid of entering the paint with force. That playing style can lead to injuries but he never shied away from contact. In his youth he probably should have done more to develop his skills but once he was grown, I like to think he got the most out of his talent, even if that talent derived mostly from his chiseled frame.

Maggette will be forgotten but for those of us that cherish even the most oblique players, they should remember Maggs for being the 2nd most ripped dude in the L.

He was my inspiration back in the day, and it turns out Ben Wallace was his.
