Latest on #Twolves: have had sign-and-trade talks with Dallas for Mayo, source says. Ridnour or Barea would go to Dallas. Not imminent yet.

Way to keep the thread on track, moderator :)

Any deal where you get something you want (and nothing you don't) is a fair deal for a team trading a free agent. Carlisle said something the other day about the team missing Barea so who knows?

instead of Dwight DAL should do this, trade for Tyson and Marion.

Didn't Dallas draft Shane Larkin?

Hey Balkis! As far as the trade, mayo will leave, so why not get a good player in return?

Barea was at home working on his flopping when he heard the news.

Mayo sign-and-trade scenarios include Barea's return
O.J. Mayo might help the Mavs bring back one of Dirk Nowitzki’s championship buddies.

With the Timberwolves among the teams recruiting Mayo, the Mavs have had discussions with Minnesota about a sign-and-trade that would net 2011 Finals hero J.J. Barea.

The Mavs don’t have the luxury of picking their trade partner in these sign-and-trade scenarios, which include the possibility a package from the Clippers headlined by explosive 23-year-old point guard Eric Bledsoe. Mayo will pick his next team – and it’s a near certainty he won’t return to Dallas due to the market for him after he was the team’s second-leading scorer during his lone season with the Mavs.

Dallas decision-makers Mark Cuban and Donnie Nelson are determined to explore all options involving him as a trade asset.

If Mayo chooses Minnesota, one of several teams who have shown interest in him, a deal that would bring back Barea and likely another piece might make sense, depending on how the Mavs’ shopping for a point guard goes. Barea isn’t an ideal starter due to his size but could be a stopgap who could mentor rookies Shane Larkin and Gal Mekel.

Due to make $9.2 million over the two remaining years on his contract, Barea could also have some trade value if opportunities present themselves in midseason. At the very least, Barea, who averaged 11.3 points and 4.0 assists off the bench last season, would add some juice to the Mavs’ pick-and-roll-happy offense.

And seeing Barea in a Mavs uniform again would certainly please some fans who never wanted to see him leave in the first place.

How do people I havent seen post in awhile, instantly find the one thread they are suppose to post in?

Its like if I went ghost for months, then all of sudden showed up in a Tmac thread.

Bledsoe might be overrated, i guess we'll see. He does play in a good system with great players around him. As for this trade, Minnesota gets the better end of it.

I think Minnesota is more interested in Reddick in all honesty.

barea back in dallas with a legit center & barea being a leader at pg would be my dream come true. i think barea has proved he can teach rookie pgs quite well mentoring rubio & shved his past year in minny. barea is the right choice imo 4 dallas but i wont be upset if he stays in minny.

i think minny would be quite happy to get anything back 4 barea once they sign their main sg's. i think cuban knows that too.

Altough well, i guess Getting a top 3 pick in the draft could make them happy.

what about shawn marion for both luke & barea?????? i think this deal would be amazing for both teams. minny gets an awesome defender & the mavs get basically white version of jason terry in luke & barea a quality starter in rc's offense with dirk. then the mavs basically could deal mayo for something and then dallas could throw all their money on whatever.

i think this is anwesome idea 4 both teams. thoughts from both sides thanks.

nm i found the answer myself. looks like i was right!!!! marion is the perfect fit for minny!!!

The Wolves’ biggest need now appears to be a defensive-minded small forward, preferably one who can start.
The Wolves still have options to make other moves: a $2.6 million “room” exception under the salary cap. They also could trade J.J. Barea or Luke Ridnour for a draft pick to clear one of their $4 million-plus contracts from the books and modify a roster that now has what Saunders considers five point guards on it.

Or they could trade one of them and/or Derrick Williams for a player.
