TL;DR

Evans doesn't box out so he can get the rebound and Lopez makes sure his guy that he leaves is boxxed out. Or it's by design. Or Lopez is lazy.

Evans has always been a good rebounder when given the minutes. He didn't just start getting a lot of rebounds when he had Lopez to box out his man.

this makes sense to me. As a player myself I've been guilty of focusing too much on the boxing out and less about the 'go get it'. Since I was always taught to box out, my man never got rebounds, by neither did I. It wasn't until I got frustrated after spending months working on my vertical and not seeing any improvement in my rebounding did I decide that the aggression on the glass was equally important and my numbers started to improve.
