Hey guys, It is that time of year again! Once again we kick of the PSD NBA Off-Season Player Rankings. This is the 6th year I have done this on PSD and it always brings some great discussion and debate. Please keep things civil and discuss who you feel is most fitting and deserving of being voted in each poll.

A lot has changed since last season. Lebron James and the Miami Heat are back to back NBA champions after an exciting 7 game series win over the Spurs. Let start the discussion since lots has changed since the start of last season. Please TRY AND VOTE FOR THE BEST PLAYER AND DON'T BE A HOMER. I will leave the poll open for one day and than we can carry on to the next best player at that position. I will add more players after each round. I have also included the results of those last 5 years so everyone can see how much things have changed...Enjoy.

REMEMBER this is based on who is the best player, not the player who has the potential to be the best

No... No he doesn't. Paul and its not close. What can Parker do that CP3 cant? CP3 is on another level than anyone else.

the sample is TOO small ( not for " first in the league") but later it has to be much wider or the votation is completley biased./manipulated.

At least defend it. Don't simply cop out with "it ain't even close". Yes Paul was terrific this season but Parker had a great season himself. Parker did manage to take his team farther in the playoffs which does account for something. I am not arguing that Parker should go here but I am saying that it is closer than a unanimous choice.

Is this for only this season? Or is it for career-wise?

If it's for this season, I don't get why Rondo and Kyrie are on this.

Either way, no disrespect to Kyrie, but he's not #1 material yet.

For the 2012-13 season
#1 Parker
#2 Paul (by a veeeeeerrrrrryyyyyyyyyy close margin)
#3 Westbrook
#4 Curry
#5 D-Will
#6 Kyrie

Parker was by far the most efficient while still putting up solid assists and decent rebounding. I think that gives him the leg up on Chris Paul, but honestly they'd be 1a/1b for me. Westbrook had one of his bests seasons thus far considering the loss of Harden, but he managed to pick up the slack with 2 more APG while only minimizing the decrease in scoring efficiency. I would put D-Will above Curry, but his first half of the season honestly brought him down a bit. Curry missed only 4 games all season, which definitely shows a big improvement in health from last season. Kyrie missed a lot of games which imo diminishes his impact, but in the games he did play, he showed improvement.

Just saying though, I only took this season into account. If we're considering overall, it's completely different.

I'm as high on Paul as most people but for someone who is "on another level than anyone else," he's won two playoff games in two years and he doesn't have the crappy team excuse anymore.

Parker absolutely has a case following the year he just had. I'll stop short of saying he deserves the top spot over Paul, but if you're going to make a post like that you should back it up.

Did you see how great he was in the playoffs? This is why Judging guys off of wins/losses in the playoffs is silly because nomatter how great 1 player is there is no push overs in the west. Go take a look at how great CP3 was in the playoffs... The crappy team excuse is still a valid excuse considering how crappy the rest of his team played

Kinda off-topic, but why isn't this "the rest of his team played crappy" excuse valid in Melo's case?

Also, to your previous post, there's nothing that TP can do that CP3 can't. It's about the efficiency though. I have to acknowledge the fact that Popovich also outclasses DelNegro by a longshot, but he's definitely a more consistent guard, which is saying something when you're comparing him to Chris Paul. Overall, CP3>TP but this season, I think TP takes it. Not by much, but he edges him barely.

Melo plays LOL defense. That is the only thing that stops Melo from being great

Until I see that his injury has impacted his play in a negative way, I can't downgrade him.

How are you going to give Derrick Rose the benefit of a doubt when he hasn't even played a game yet in over a year? He shouldn't be there and rightfully so. I actually think Rose wouldn't even be a top 5 PG next year. Curry, Westbrook, Parker, Irving, Paul.

Chris Paul here for me; led the Clippers to its best regular season in franchise history and to me is the best all around PG skillwise, though I do question when he's going to start getting knocked a little for his postseason shortcomings. I was pretty close to actually taking Parker here for that reason alone....without TP the Spurs don't come close to the Finals. But on the floor, there's nothing Parker does that Paul can't do and do it better.

Gibby23
06-26-2013, 11:45 AM
Paul might be better by a small bit over Parker, but what Parker did this year was impressive. He makes the defense work harder than C{3 does. Parkes will go down the couts 100 mph and make the D run back. He plays fast and is under control. He does alot and has carried his team in scoring when needed. I think CP3 didn't score enough this year, there were some times he needed to take over but didn't.

I really dont understand why everyone thinks Chris Paul is the hands down best PG every year. Is this a debate on best player at the position, or best pure point guard? Not trying to hate on Paul, because I think hes awesome, but he has never really done anything in the postseason and unless he gets a superteam formed in LA, I dont know if he can be the catalyst for a champion. Doc does help him though, but for me CP3 is the best by default. If rose comes back better than ever, I think he will take Paul's spot atop these rankings

What has Rose ever done in the postseason?

Like I said, Paul is the best by default. The fact that many people dont know CP has never defeated Derrick in their respective careers just makes me wonder why it is a foregone conclusion that he is the best. Also, Derrick has gone further than Paul to answer your question

Parker would have had a strong case if he played a great FInals. But after Game 1, the guy was not good, not to mention his no-shows in Game 6 & 7. Rose has been injured past 2 years. CP3 wins.

rose is the best pg in the nba when healthy, as he will show this year.

you people need to get real. chris paul is not better than derrick rose.

derrick rose has shown the ability to do things chris paul can never do, such as his explosiveness, which is the 1 big thing that seperates the 2.

they can both shoot the 3, they both are good defenders, both are good ball handlers, but explosiveness gives rose the edge.

i dont know what nba some people have been watching the past few years, but if you guys still paul is much better than rose, i suggest maybe watching rose play a bit more closely this season as you will see who the real number 1 pg in the nba is.
