Dallas: Dirk
Lakers: Kobe
Spurs: Duncan
Heat: Wade, then LeBron (and possibly Bosh if dynasty holds)

Thats all I can think of for now

Pierce is interesting though

I'm sure Wade will get one and I think Dirk as well. Pierce is hard to say as he was good, but that Boston history is so long and file with greats. Duncun deserves one and does Kobe.

Mavs=Dirk and Kidd
Lakers= Shaq and Kobe
Spurs=Duncan and Robinson
Heat=Lebron and Wade
Celtics=Pierce
Houston=Olajuwon (not sure if they already have one for him but definitely needs one if not)
All 30 teams=Michael Jordan

Mavs = Dirk
Spurs = Duncan

No one else is worthy of a statue yet or their arena already has one.

i think dr j should get one...along with kobe duncan dirk..wade im on the fence...lebron should get one in from of Cleveland just cause he literally made that franchise relevant while he was there and who knows if he'll go back so don't close that chapter...Miami should give him one too after-all its cause of him that they have a 2nd banner in those rafters and possibly a third

I don't agree with the MJ one. The only other place Michael should have a statue is outside the NBA corporate office or the NBA Referee Association. He owned both of them in his time in the NBA.

Kobe

Those are the only missing statues currently. If Pierce finishes his career in Boston, then maybe.

Wade deserves a statue outside the AAA for his 2006 Finals performance alone.

canefandynasty
06-20-2013, 03:17 PM
They offered Hakeem a statue....he declined.

Also historically, Miami was at the bottom of the barrel before they drafted Wade. Anyone not having Wade on the list is probably ********. The list is as goes:

Duncan - 4 rings and has played w/ drafted team throughout career; perennial 50-win seasons since drafted year
Kobe - 5 rings; has played with Lakers throughout career; 18 seasons; too many franchise records
Nowitzki - easily Dallas best franchise player ever; has played w/ Dallas throughout career; made Dallas a perennial playoff team; ring
Wade - put an historically terrible franchise into limelight; played w/ drafted team throughout career; 5 ECF tenures; 4 Finals appearences; 2 (soon to be 3) rings

Can't put Pierce on there b/c he played on a storied franchise that had players before him that were greater.

I don't think one or even two finals is worth of a statue. The only thing worth of a statue should be 3+ finals mvp awards. That means only Duncan deserves it. I also think the player should play almost his whole career in said city. Duncan and Kobe are really the only current NBA players to have won multiple finals MVP's with one team. So ya no wade, no lebron no pierce. They all get their Jersey's retired but a statue has to be the highest level of achievement. There was no way to honor Jordan over other HOF'ers, so they built a statue. Everyone else who is a major part of a chip or two gets their Jersey retired.

ManRam
06-20-2013, 03:23 PM
Dirk, Duncan and Kobe are the obvious ones, and I think all 3 100% deserve and will get it.

Pierce is tough because of how many greats have played for Boston. Wade I don't think is quite there yet either. If LeBron closes out his career with Miami than he'll get one there.

So what if Miami wins tonight and LeBron gets FMVP. Then by your logic that would mean LeBron should get a statue in Miami for 2 FMVP but not Wade, who has been in every Finals series involving the Heat, including engineering the first title in franchise history. Flawed logic there.

I disagree. I think that you deserve a statue for being an all time great and carried that team's identity for that particular franchise for almost all of your career. Utah had every right to put a statue out for Stock and Malone, and they never won a title.

Dirk, Duncan, Kobe (as long as all the other Laker greats have been already acknowledged) and Wade soon.

B'sCeltsPatsSox
06-20-2013, 04:12 PM
Duncan and Kobe will definitely get one. LeBron and Wade could as well especially seeing that the Heat don't really have high standards when it comes to things like these(look at their rafters.) Pierce will more than likely won't get a statue. Hell, the Celtics statues aren't even located right outside of TD Garden:laugh2:

So you see LeBron getting a statue in Miami before Wade? I think i just lost brain cells reading this post.

Well, considering I never said that LeBron will get a statue before Wade, perhaps you did lose some brain cells reading that! I said he's got more work to do, and so does LeBron. Wade certainly has much less work to do, but he's on the downswing of his career.

Wade is more likely as of NOW and certainly has a head start because he is a Heat-lifer, but if LeBron plays 10+ seasons in Miami and goes down as an all time great, while winning multiple MVPs there and multiple Finals MVPs, why shouldn't he be any more deserving than Wade?

I said Dirk and not Wade, but I'd probably change that. Wade has done just as much as Dirk for their respective franchises. The only reason I initially thought Dirk is because there's just no doubt in my mind that Mark Cuban would make sure it happens. It just seems like a lock that Cuban will get it done. Is he more deserving of one than Wade? Maybe not.

Kobe/Duncan/Dirk.

If Pierce had won more than 1 ring, then him too.
Wade not yet - if they win another, then yes 3 rings is more than worthy.

IF Kidd ever wins a ring as a coach they Brooklyn SHOULD put him up as well for his TOTAL contribution to the franchise. Obviously a statue of his playing days haha.

I'm inclined to agree with this. I'm not a Kobe fan, but he has won 5 rings with them and he is their all-time leading scorer.

I think Duncan, Kobe, Pierce, Wade, and Dirk are the only one's that come to mind....I do want to add that I haven't read any posts yet so I may have other ideas after I post this.

Dirk

....that's it. I can see a case for either Wade or Pierce since both have meant so much to their respective franchise, but Pierce is up against some heavy competition. Wade's statue should be of him as a GM.

I can't even see why some would say Shaq deserves a statue? He played for like 17 teams in his career. Even though he was unstoppable in Lakers Gold I don't see him having the same status as Kobe. Longevity with the franchise means a lot in this kind of scenario.

PhillyFaninLA

I have a question?

I think Pierce is one of the great Celtics of all time.....as a Sixers fan that may be sacrilege...but he has been fairly special...he's not Bird or Russell but I think he's better then McHale how I respect....where do you rank him on the Celtics list?

shaq will get one,but he isnt a current player so isnt an answer

just because he made the relevant? what a load of rubbish. He never won a title with them and he basically embarrassed the cavs on national tv.

looking through the statues in the nba, apart from Karl Malone and John Stockton, won Chips, but really the overarching theme is a hofer who spends a great deal of his career in one city. Shaq would really be the only one who didn't. i love mikan's statue with him in glasses, really captures the time.
