Does Billups rank in the HOF? And where does he rank among all time PGs? How about All Time players?

Discuss.

No he doesn't make it

Chauncey Billups: 16yrs 15,730 pt's, 5594 ast's, 2964 rb's, 1043 stl's, 167 blk's

Andre Miller: 14yrs 15,496 pt's, 7956 ast's, 4461 rb's, 1464 stl's, 212 blk's

Does anyone think of the "Iron Man" Andre Miller as a HOF? Looks like if Billups ever made it than Miller would deserve it also!

Neither him nor Iron man make it.

I agree, wanted to show that comparison so people don't over do it on Chauncey. Both guys have had really good NBA careers but not HOF.

I guess defense doesn't count for anything. During his prime, Chauncey Billups was by far the best defensive point guard. He was also the type of player that you cannot just judge by stats. He did so many little things on the court that you can only know by watching him.

There have been worse inductions into the hall of fame. If Vince Carter gets in there, then so should Billups.

Yes. He'll wait a little but eventually get in. He's comparable to a guy like Dennis Johnson.

Not that i think either are hof worthy, billups has had way more success than dre miller, has a title, might have had two if it wasnt the spurs.

dre has done nothing in comparison.

Rubbish. Billups is one of the best percentage shooters of all time, way better than Miller. Billups was a leader too. Billups best 8 seasons are all better then Millers best.

Please. Billups is a HOF, Miller is not.

JoJo White and Cedric Maxwell

JoJo White was a volume shooting guard, who could play some D, who ranks below Miller IMO.

Maxwell had 5 really excellent years, but didn't last. Neither one is near as good as Billups.

This.

It always amazes me how most here overestimate the credentials it takes to get in the basketball hall of fame while underestimating the credentials it takes to make the NFL hall of fame.

Billups will absolutely make it if Dennis Johnson could make it.

same here,i think it people confusing the question of would he get in to their idealized version of the hof,and cant separate that from the objective look at the bar for the hof (so you get alot of personal feelings,"was this guy one of my fav players during the decade",ect. decisions)

5 time all star
Finals MVP
3 time all NBA
2 time all Defense
59th in career MVP shares

If you think Reggie Miller should just fly in, like most of you do, Billups is a shoe in.

Unfortunately with Reggie, too many people fall for his great clutch moments and overtook his incompleteness as an overall player.

Real talk.

I feel like one young poster who knows no history of the game, saw a couple clipper games of him looking terrible his year, assume he was like that his whole career. Say 'no way'
then the following 5 posters repeat exactly what was already posted.

Billups is getting in. He was one of the best point guards in the league for a while and winning a finals MVP is the best thing you can do..

and **** Reggie Miller. That guy should not have gotten in. He was a pretty good player, and a horrible announcer. Nothing was great about him except his 3 pt shooting total, it's almost a joke how glorified he is now. His overall career is not HOF worthy at all even for the Basketball HOF.

"OH. MY. GOODNESS"

makes it feel like a joke when I watch and he's announcing.

I agree. The announcing of the Denver and Golden State series was one of the more homeristic announcements due to his infatuation with Mark Jackson.

It was. Jackson really isn't that good of a coach and Miller went out to make it all about him sometimes. Jackson seems like he lives in a childhood fantasy world sometimes with the comments he makes where he gets all dramatic. We get it the teams young and doing big things, dont act like it's going down in history forever tho.

He really should be coaching a youth or middle school team

Reggie Miller was pretty good and consistent. He is a HOF in my view. He wasn't a complete player, but what he did he did well, like Rodman on defense and rebounding, Miller was one of the best pure shooters.

ThuglifeJ
06-17-2013, 05:02 PM
he made the all star game 5 times out of 18 seasons. That doesn't scream greatness. Just a little bit underacheiving for a HOFer imo..

I'm not sure using Rodman as an analogy really bolsters your argument there considering many don't think Rodman deserves it either.

oh no doubt. I am basically saying Billups deserves in over Reggie, who many thinks has such a strong case.

The basketball hall of fame is unfortunately a joke in terms of who the writers admit. The 'criteria' seem to have gotten more stringent over the years, but it's unfortunate that a player like chauncey billups is even mentioned at all.

Yao Ming will be voted in in a couple of years, but he probably should not be admitted, either.

Basketball's a younger sport than say, baseball, where the HOF voting is treated with greater reverence, so perhaps standards will improve as time wears on.

The saving grace is that the basketball hof is still more selective than say, the WWE HOF.

I brought it up, because in the tread, "Is Reggie Miller a HOF'er", so many people voted yes, and here, you can see a large number of the answers are saying no.

Reggie is the classic case of selective memory.

having a movie made about you helps with selective memory ,think thats where alot of the hype he's been getting the past few years have come from.though i do believe miller is a hofer and get alittle undersold by some of my fellow stat nerds(though way overrated by the rest)
