I think this series is over. Pacers have been playing out of their mind offensively the entire series and they are not this good. They are great defensively but they are just simply not this good and efficient as they have shown offensively and they are coming down to life.

Heat win a close one 97-92

They are only efficient because of their offensive rebounding presence that West/Hibbert provide.

If Miami brings the pressure D out the gate they are going to dominate. If they allow Pacers to casually walk the ball up, kill clock, slow the tempo and make entry passes to their bigs than Indy will win. Miami honestly only needs a quarter of intense, locked in basketball to blow this thing open.

Indy farked up their chance to steal this series IMO. First in game 1 with the brainfart with 2 seconds left. Second last game in the first quarter when they should have built a big double digit lead but instead threw the ball away an ungodly amount of times and missed about 8 layups.

I'm on the fence about whether Birdman should be suspended or not. The comparison to Nazr is fair. I don't think either should have gotten anything but a flagrant 1, but if the league wants to try to be consistent and upgrade it to a 2 and suspend Birdman for a game I'd be OK with it.

And in the long run, that actually helps the Pacers out a ton. Birdman did NOTHING after that (besides that block I guess). He was a non-factor. Getting an entire game without him is far better than him just missing the second half of a game in which he did nothing.

Him not getting a flagrant 2 right away could be a blessing in disguise.

i typed this in the andersen thread...but here's what i think miami should do to solve the hole andersen being suspended created.

andersen's playing time while hibbert is on the court.

game 1: 18 minutes - about 9 minutes when Hibbert was on the court
game 2: 15 minutes - about 10 minutes when Hibbert was on the court
game 3: 22 minutes - about 13 minutes when Hibbert was on the court
game 4: 19 minutes - about 11 minutes when Hibbert was on the court
game 5: 18 minutes - about 12 minutes when hibbert was on the court

game 5 notes: andersen came in with 1 second left in the 3rd. he was not a part of that huge run at all.

so, we're talking about ~10 minutes of common playing time a game. the heat i'm sure can figure out ways to cope with the time anderson is in there with mahinmi, which is about 8-9 minutes a game.

andersen's loss is significant, but i don't think it's earth-shattering. bosh will have to play a few minutes, but he's only playing about 32 this series, so they can expand his role a little with ease. haslem is playing about 21 minutes a game, so i'm sure they'll expand his minutes a bit too.

i don't think anthony is the answer. yes, he can handle hibbert's size adequately, but he's a detriment offensively and he's not even a good rebounder. might as well just defend him during those ~10 minutes they had andersen in there like they defend him the other ~30 minutes he's on the court.

i think they can survive andersen's loss without bringing in anthony, and for the sake of the heat they better hope they don't have to bring in anthony.

i agree, but i can almost guarantee that spo will play anthony. the only thing anthony helps is the pick and roll defense and that hasn't been an issue. i'm just hoping he doesn't see much time and like you said spo should expand haslem's minutes. one thing he could do is start battier like last year and then bring haslem off the bench at the 5. then have lewis or miller fill battier's bench role. it'll be interesting to see what happens.

Oh yes, he is great defensively thats why I said one of those guys would reduce our d or o in a heartbeat in this case Joel help us defensively but he is a liability on the other side of the floor, he isn't Udonis or Bosh who can maintain Hibbert or West busy with their J's or Birdman who can finish on the basket.

And someone asked if this was America, I told them no this is a canadian site, then they asked if canadians have freedom of speech, which I answered and gave a brief reason why FoS doesn't matter on a private site. See they got off topic and were misinformed, I informed them. Maybe someday they will be able to use that knowledge and not seem like a complete ***.

Come on Indy, take it back to Miami.

Wouldn't be surprised if LeBron takes over and wraps it up. I think that's what he needs to do, they don't want to be playing an Indy team with nothing to lose in game seven (even though the Heat would still be favourites).

even with bron out, it's NOT wade and bosh doing anything offensively. it's guys like allen and cole. just unbelievable.

Indiana trying to dunk 3ft from the hoop with 20in verticals, bad idea.

Wade has always been one of the very best at playing when he gets a pick set for him. In either taking it, splitting it or refusing the pick. But they are not even setting any for him. Its like their whole game plan has changed from what they have done for 3 years.

If Wade calls for pick, they will set for him.

he was getting the ball in his hands a lot to start the game...and he's gotten his touches early on. he's doing nothing with them. at a certain point, unless lebron is setting him up for wide open looks, why keep bothering?

he's had the ball in his hands even here too. he's just giving it up ASAP. if he wants to go, he can get a pick and go. he's just not doing that

Bosh and Wade have been so bad it's mind boggling. People will always discredit LeBron for playing with two other all stars but the fact of the matter is that he just continues to cement his legacy with bosh and wade dropping absolute dookies

i think as time passes people will be able to get past the names and actually look at what those two have done in the last two playoffs and judge it more fairly. the backlash he gets now is only going to get WAY better as time goes by and more and more emotions are removed from the equation. people, i think, tend to look at things more objectively well after the fact.
