Well, we could put some good distance between us and the MFY if we could take 2, possibly 3/3. But the Yanks are coming off of a long losing streak and everyone knows this series is always a heavy-weight fight. So I wouldn't be surprised if one or two of these games turns into a slugfest, with 5+ homeruns in a game. Peddy hitting 2 this weekend, calling it now...I hope...lol

He didn't have his best stuff tonight and still gave us 6 innings of 3 ER ball. I'm not even going to count the 7th inning because he should have never been out there, already was at 109 pitches before starting the 7th. Trust me, I fully understand. Regardless of what JBJ has shown so far in the majors, I would prefer to hit him leadoff (he's accustomed to it) and Nava #2 if it meant moving Carp down in the order.

AI, it seems like Farrell is platooning Carp and Gomes and is more than willing to replace one with the other in the middle of the game if the pitching L/R matchup justifies it. It seems like it's Farrell's way of getting playing time and AB's for both players.

Perhaps not. But if he's going to be the utility player, might it not be a good idea to send Iggy down to AAA for a while and learn to play some 2B as well? I don't think that the Sox would be hurt by staying with Ciriaco for a while longer. And if someone gets hurt, they can always call up Iggy then.

Daniel Nava has a higher OPS (.883) than Robinson Cano, Evan Longoria, Justin Upton, Adrian Beltre, Buster Posey or Prince Fielder.

NEW YORK
Baseball people enjoy telling stories about Dustin Pedroia’s bravado. And this one might rank near the top.

Celebrities enjoy going to games, too. They just get better seats. See the rich and famous at the ballpark.
On Friday night, as the Red Sox took batting practice at Yankee Stadium, Pedroia noticed Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson standing behind the batting cage.

The Red Sox second baseman strode over to Jackson and proclaimed, “Barry Bonds, Dustin Pedroia and Reggie Jackson, the top three players in Arizona State history.”

Someone asked Pedroia how he would rank the three. He immediately shot back, “Kind of a coin flip between the first two,” referring to Bonds and himself – and not Jackson.

Now, Jackson has never been one to lack confidence, and during his days with the Yankees even was quoted as saying, “I’m the straw that stirs the drink.” But Pedroia effectively browbeat him into submission.

Rather than challenge Pedroia, Jackson replied, almost meekly, “I’m just happy to be in the top five.”
