Demanded at trade after being drafted by them...he was traded for Vlade Divac

Didn't like the team because he wanted to be drafted by the LAL. They had no choice but to trade him for Divac - who was chosen by the LAL. All in all, he wanted to be on a winning franchise. So yes, what if indeed.

Divac had already been in the league for 7 years.

I had the privilege of being at this draft, one of the greatest of all time.

I'm really confused here since as far as I know, although Kobe didn't really like the idea of playing for a small market team, did he really demand a trade? I ask this because as far as I can understand from the then scout of the Bobcats. As he said,

"The deal was actually done a day ahead of time, and it was Vlade for a player to be named," said Bill Branch, the Hornets' head scout at the time who still operates out of Charlotte as a scout for the Seattle-now-Oklahoma City Sonics. "If I remember right, they didn't even tell us who they wanted us to pick until about five minutes before the pick was made. So it was never a matter of us actually drafting Kobe."

Also -

"When you look back at it, when we made that trade, here was a 17-year-old kid who had played in high school," said Bob Bass, the Hornets' executive vice president of basketball operations at the time. "Twelve other teams passed on him. We made a decision to win now and not later. We had Dave Cowens as our first-year coach, and I wanted to give him a chance to win. I knew if we got Divac in here, we'd win. I didn't feel the same about Bryant. Without Divac, I thought we might have won 25 games."

This coming from the Bobcats themselves. I know a lot of people don't like Kobe but come on...bash him for the right reason (holding the ball too long, forcing too much)

Kobe never demanded a trade. He was just coming out of high school and didn't have the juice to force anyone's hand. The Lakers pursued him. If you're going to slam anyone, slam Charlotte.

He didn't demand a trade from Charlotte, but it was rumored that the Clippers were about to pick him, and Kobe's agent straight up said Kobe will be a Laker or he won't play..

This is all behind closed curtain stuff so I don't think any of us could really know... TIS BUSINESS.

However it's obvious that Charlotte didn't want to draft him as they never even gave him a workout and were probably like Kobe who? when LA wanted them to pick him.

He actually did. He could easily go to school if he didn't like the team that drafted him, and I'm pretty sure back in this day if a player didn't join your team right away you had no control over him... I don't know it was a different CBA.... A lonnnngggg time ago.
