Usually, NBA general managers are filled with nerves entering the annual NBA draft lottery. That may be the case for a different reason on Tuesday night.

"I'm not sure I want the No. 1 pick," said one NBA general manager.

Another looked frightened at the thought of having to draft someone first this year.

"There's really no one worthy of the top pick," he said. "But someone has to go number one.

None of those guys have separated himself from the rest. Nerlen Noels just seem like the default pick...

well, yeah. the best player in the draft is worthy of the #1 pick.

does the #1 pick this year stack up to years past? probably not.

i do still think, even with the 206 lbs numbers being thrown around, than noel is clearly worth the #1 pick, especially if orlando gets it. i'll be disappointed if we take anyone but him.

I think Mclemore from Kansas will be worth it. Kid looks like a stud.

there are a TON of quality players in this draft...just because there aren't 3-4 HOFers a la 2003 or 1984 doesn't mean its a bad draft...

In this draft, I see a wealth of players who could have productive 10-12 year careers in the NBA, with all-star upside...maybe no "once-in-a-generation" players, but still a lot of quality players

people said 2011 was a bad draft...kyrie, klay thompson, faried, kemba, chandler parsons, kawhi leonard, iman shumpert, jimmy butler, tobias harris and marshon brooks have all not only shown great UPSIDE, but have also performed extremely well in their first 2 years.

same goes for the 2012 draft...a lot of people weren't high on this draft, but players have performed extremely well in their rookie years, and have tremendous upside. lillard and barnes at 6 and 7 looks like steals, fournier at 20 was a great pick, and the top of the draft sans robinson have performed pretty good as well..

to answer the question though, yes, there are players worthy of the #1 pick. noel has a similar upside as anthony davis, and ben macklemore could challenge harden as the top 2 guard for the next generation

A lot of these guys are going to look so much different in the NBAfor better or worse. Especially the underclassmen. People had huge questions about Kyrie Irving and Rose, while Beasley and Derrick Williams looked like All-Stars to some. Really is a crapshoot this year.

If Orlando wins it I don't think they take Noel. They already have very promising big men in Vucevic and Harris. Harkless, Vucevic, Harris and McLemore on paper looks special.

Noel is the smart pick for anyone, draft him let him rest then get another Top 3 pick next year to get Parker, Wiggins or someone else in such a deep class.

I really like Noel and McLemore and I think Porter is going to be a nice player. I don't think the problem is that the first few picks are weak, it's just that after these guys everyone else is nothing really special.

What's the difference between McLemore and Wesley Johnson when he was coming out from Syracuse as a prospect?
