That's why it shows that for the 2nd year in a row we need some sort of integration. I mean seriously I can get Noah (to an extent) but Chandler over Marc this season? I don't get that. He'll Duncan should have been chosen over Chandler as well.

I was anxiously anticipating this list for a month.

The voters did a good job for the first time in many years IMO.

Not too many complaints. I like that Conley got put on the 2nd team, he was excellent all year. Not sure about Avery Bradley, I think you could have went with Russell Westbrook over him.

Kobe's not on the list which means it restores some of its integrity. He was a complete embarrassment on defense this year.

The guy who gave Kobe 1 1st place vote should not be allowed to vote. Cause he clearly doesn't watch the games.

People will disagree with me, but personally I think he has a case over Lebron for 1st team. The guy's responsibility on a nightly basis is the guard the other teams best player, and he does a dam good job of it.
Lebron is a great defender, but the first portion of the season, Miami was one of the worst defensive teams. I know he is able to turn it on when he wants,I know that. But they also have Battier whom they'll throw on other guys, and Lebron may pick up the duties in the 4th or in crunch time.

Iggy was put in a fast paced system with no defensive system in place, like no joke, George Karl doesnt even coach defense, and Iggy had to single handedly turn it into a decent defense with no even average defensive center and mediocre defenders as the rest of his teammates, he was easily a top 3 perimeter defender with only Lebron and Allen having any decent case against him

Exactly... He definitely got snubbed. Or better yet, since Lebron was sort of a foregone conclusion to be on that team, just move him to the 4 spot and put Iggy at the 3. Ibaka has no business there

After thinking about it for a second and looking at the players getting votes, this would've been my voting:

F - Lebron James
F - Tim Duncan
C - Joakim Noah

2nd Team
G - Mike Conley
G - Andre Iguodala
F - Paul George
F - Larry Sanders
C - Marc Gasol

3rd Team
G - Russell Westbrook
G - Jimmy Butler
F - Luol Deng
F - David West
C - Roy Hibbert

Don't understand why CP3 is randomly on the first team?

CP3 quite honestly was probably the best starting PG on the defensive end this past season. Problem is the guy behind him was hands down the best defensive PG in the game IMO. I know Bledsoe doesn't get enough PT to probably warrant a selection but his D this past season (especially the 1st half) was amazing.

Shows that the defensive player of hte year voting is a crock. Yes, Marc Gasol should be commended for being a good defensive player on a good defensive team. No, he should not have won defensive player of the year. There were 4 or 5 players better than him this year defensively; Tim Duncan, Joakim Noah, Paul George, Roy Hibbert, Tony Allen. You can even throw in Lebron James if you want to get spicy.

Marc Gasol now has half as many DPotY as my favorite player, Hakeem Olajuwon.

Yeah, this has actually been a good year for the defensive team. I was glad to not see Kobe there. It's funny how he wins first team one year, then barely gets a vote in the next year. Did Kobe's defensive change at all this year? He looked like the same defender of the past 3 years. Did the voters change? Or did they just stop smoking crack?

I did not even realize at first that there are 6 players on the 1st Team due to Chandler and Noah tying. Which means Marc Gasol really should not have even made 2nd team. Apparently head coaches are less impressed with him than the media.

It's always fun to see who else got votes. Tony Parker getting a 1st Team vote is pretty bad (tho' his D improved and he's fine on that end), but Kobe with a 1st Team vote and multiple 2nd team votes despite not even trying to pretend like he cares on that end is hilarious to me. It just goes to show that sometimes coaches can be just as clueless and impressionable as anyone. Mike James got himself in there with a 1st Team vote.

So if there wasn't a tie for Chandler and Noah, Gasol wouldn't have even made an All-Defensive team? WTF?!?!?

Yup, and looking even further I'm seeing that he got in on a SECOND technicality because Larry Sanders actually received more total points than him (16 to 12) - but apparently because Marc Gasol got 5 first team votes, and Larry 4, that's what takes precedent. Which makes absolutely no sense to me. The 1st team vote already counts as 2 points instead of 1, so it should be accounted for.

Sefolosha and Iggy also had more votes than him.

Well Mr head coach then have the ate people who vote for the DPOY vote for the All Defensive team. It makes the leagues look bad and the awards much less credible when idiotic things like this happens. TBH the media has done a MUCH better job in recent yeas than the head coaches anyway.

Seriously a head coach game MIKE JAMES a 1st team vote. He may have based that on one game in which James played against his team this past season and impressed him, based on the history of the awards I'd say the media is way more credible than the Head Coaches.

Dumbass logic on your part. media picks dpoy, coaches pick the teams. id take a head coach over a journalist any day.

wait- the same head coaches that chose put kobe on the all defensive team YEAR AFTER YEAR despite the fact that he hasn't given a **** about defense in a long time? lets be real, this award is a joke anyway.

The same journalists that gave Marcus Camby a DPOY? The same journalists that gave David Lee a DPOY vote back in 2010?

Marcus Camby wasn't as bad of a choice in hindsight he LEAD the NBA in DRAPM (http://stats-for-the-nba.appspot.com/ratings/2007.html) that season. He also played on a Nuggets teams that didn't really focus on D (they still don't) and despite the fact that he was not a great individual defender (still much better than people may have believed) his impact on the defensive end of the floor was greater than that of any other player that year.

Mike James received a 1st team vote this season seriously. Mike James? I'd rather see Lee get a 3rd team vote than Mike James receiving a 1st Team All D vote.

Not even close.

Allen
Lebron
George
Deng
Avery(Vs smaller players)
Iggy.

This list is absolutely absurd. Iggy is a more valuable defender than anyone on that list besides maybe Tony Allen and Lebron. Lebron has more positional versatility on D, but Iggy is every bit as valuable on the defensive end. Dude is a straight up stud.

Luol Deng :laugh2:
