I really think Grizz should have kept Rudy Gay for a series like this. With that being said, I got memphis in 6, but if they kept Gay, I could see them as a legit title contender. Not saying Gay is a bonafide star of some sort but hes a much better player than Prince/Daye, although Davis may end up being better than Gay..

I think grizzlies win in 6, by the looks of it okc has no legit offensive threats except for Kevin durant and maybe Kevin Martin if he's feeling it. They also have no playmakers lol a lot of flaws exposed once Westbrook got injured

Grizzlies meanwhile not a great offensive team, they have a playmaker and some shooters and a low post scorer

I'm not, I didn't think OKC would drop this game. But when you factor in Durant is 4-9 and Ibaka is 0-7, Memphis should be up, they need to capitalize on OKC's offensive struggles. (35% from the field and 16% from the 3)

Problem is Memphis is struggling to score too, which was the 1 thing people questioned in regards to Memphis, could they put up enough points. They dropped 100+ their last 3 games against the Clips so it's definitely possible. Just not something they can rely on.

Refs knowing the rules? That clear through "shot" for FT's was BS, that rule was changed last year for that EXACT scenario.

But in general, no. KD will attack, and attack, then continue to attack. He's too tall+athletic and too good at shooting not to draw contact fairly consistently. Just have to hope he gets lazy.

Yeah I realized that after I re-read your comment - my bad.

KD can't and won't be stopped any way you want to dice it though. He's one of the best scorers ever. Maybe the best since MJ. I feel like half of the fouls on him are just players trying to rise to his height when he drives and falling 2 feet short. Rest of the team can, though. Trick is trying to lock down Kevin Martin. Which hasn't been the case so far.

No doubt. People can (and probably will) blame that on an OKC bias or something, but that's how the guy has ALWAYS been, some players are just smart/crafty and know how to exploit officiating. He definitely fits that mold. Harden's the best, though.

Worked better with Westbrook because it cleared the paint so Westbrook could attack with more freedom. And he actually became a very solid mid-range shooter. But it's not ideal for them right now, agreed.

This is Memphis' problem. No go-to guy when they need a bucket late. It's tough to rely on a post player down the stretch, especially in situations like that, because they need someone to give them the ball.

If grizz take game 2, they take 3 and 4 easy. Refs won't allow those flailing arm fouls durant and Martin got in game 1. Memphis fans will let them hear it

You better get used to it. In fact the officiating got a lot worse for the Rockets at home. When this series ends you'll come to the realization of how much of a ***** Durant really is. Fisher and Martin have no business in this league, they are a disgrace. Please take them out, good luck.

Today on First Take, Stephen A. Smith predicted Memphis in 6 or 7 and Skip Bayless said Thunder in 7. What does everybody else think? I'm going to say OKC in 5 because Memphis looked dead in the water those first two games against the Clippers and I think if Durant keeps balling like this and Kevin Martin keeps playing better than the Houston series, it might happen again.

MrfadeawayJB

This.

Jamal Crawford has a big game 1 and after that Allen shut him down the rest of the series. I expect the. Same to happen.

Jason44
05-06-2013, 12:17 PM
Hollins will make adjustments to stop Martin. He knows durant will get his so make a plan to stop Martin. If Martin doesn't have a big game thunder won't be able to win.

zn23
05-06-2013, 03:03 PM
Martin exploded and had his best game of the post season. To me it looks like the Thunder need to get huge contribution from Martin in every game. I don't that's going to happen.

I took Grizz in 6. They let the game slip away from them with stupid plays and turnovers, I thought they lost the game, more than the Thunder won the game. I don't know what Prince was thinking by doing a running one handed layup/shot with 44 seconds left in the game. Those bad plays can't happen. Mike Conley did not exploit the matchup with having Derek Fisher on him. He needs to step it up. Marc Gasol has proven that Kendrick Perkins can't guard him.

But I can't discount the cheap fouls the Thunder get. Kevin Durant is a master at ref baiting and getting cheap fouls. The swing through to initiate contact should not be a shooting foul. I thought the league changed that rule.
