Wade needs rest and Ray, Battier, and Miller need to get in a rhythm. Seems like a perfect time to rest him and get those guys some more minutes and looks. We will need their shooting against the Bulls.

Bring out the brooms. BARRER CON TODO !!

What's the deal with wade's knee?

he has 3 deep bone bruises around his right knee cap (had surgery on the left knee last year) and he keeps banging it so it's taking awhile to heal. spo insists that structurally his knee is as good as it has been in years though so the heat need to close this out and let him rest as much as possible. i wouldn't even play him this game, apparently he hurt his right forearm last game as well...

You must not watch their games often. Rashard and Mike have both played well during the last few games of the regular season. He needs them to get some games in just in case Wade needs more time. Perhaps you should stop posting for today.

the heat's issues last year only arose when the supporting cast were missing threes. when they hit them at a respectable clip they were basically unbeatable in the playoffs. when they didn't, they lost. this isn't shocking because lebron was so damn consistent.

right now, they're certainly having that problem. their bench is good at certain things, and offensively it's mainly just shooting threes. right now, they can't do that at all...and MIL are hanging in because of it.

Not saying he is the greatest, just an amazing stat.

any glance at any sort of playoff statistics suggests that lebron has been the second best playoff performer ever, behind jordan. obviously other factors need to be weighted with those stats, but nothing from a statistical viewpoint that puts lebron in all-time great playoff performance territory should be a surprise.

at least now he can have an average game and his team might still win. unlike the cleveland years, especially 2009, which i think was the single best individual playoff season ever. it just wasn't enough.

any glance at any sort of playoff statistics suggests that lebron has been the second best playoff performer ever, behind jordan. obviously other factors need to be weighted with those stats, but nothing from a statistical viewpoint that puts lebron in all-time great playoff performance territory should be a surprise.

at least now he can have an average game and his team might still win. unlike the cleveland years, especially 2009, which i think was the single best individual playoff season ever. it just wasn't enough.

I agree. I think comparing players is pointless. I am sure people could find a way to make Ndudi Ebi better than MJ. I just found that amazing. The guy is just very well rounded.

Wade is soft for not playing

Is this seriously coming from a Rose fanboy? Wade is taking time off to heal his knee up which is a physical injury. He's smart to realize his team was good enough to win a game without him risking rest of the playoffs. On the other hand, Rose can't explain why he's not playing. Oh no "I not ready mentally after being cleared for months now". LMFAO!

His knee isnt gonna get any better. The idea now is to rest and not bang it up any more than you have to. Unfortunately, they're gonna need him moving forward to the next series against the physical Bulls, and I dont know if he's durable enough to last that series.

actually it's expected to improve. its bone bruises not ligaments...spo said structurally wade's knee is as good as its been in years. the bone bruises will get better with rest and as long as he doesn't keep banging it. he's got some time now to let it recover.

It takes months for bone bruises to heal, a few days of rest will do very little. But at the end of the day, with wade or not, Heat should advance w/out a problem. Maybe 6 game series instead of 4 or 5.

the bone bruises occurred about a month ago already. i know he's not gonna get to 100% but my point is i disagree with you saying it wouldn't get any better, it should improve somewhat.

We should feel honored by the presence of Dwyane Wade's doctor here to post on PSD. He has done the examination himself and knows the extent of the injury and amount of pain Wade will be playing with. We should listen to this guy!

Heat are a lock for the finals with or without wade. ray has been beasting in the playoffs. Ray allen would be the 2nd option on every team in the east outside miami lol

They will win a game or 2 just from getting hot from deep. But melo is too inefficient and miami is the better team. Not worried about NY in the least. Chicago will give miami more trouble with their defense.

Bingo, its going to be a replay of round 1. Both teams will defend, it will be ugly, and Melo and JR's ability to score against tough half court defense will be the difference. Indy doesn't have that luxury.

Of course they're a challenge. Anybody on here who doesn't think so can look at history for evidence. When the Mavs beat them in '11 it had less to do w/Dirk, and more to do with Jason Kidd. You need players w/high basketball IQ to challenge a team like the Heat. Knicks obviously have several of those players.

Not a fan of Battier. I like his attitude towards taking a charge, but on offense he does a lot of standing around kicking dirt. Definitely a depth improvement, not someone who makes them a whole lot better IMO of course.

spaces the floor, draws the bigs out of the paint when he's playing the 4, makes the smart vet plays. actually is probably our best 3pt shooter, at least most consistent and still a good defender.

Battier has been instrumental for the Heat. The guy does it all on the defensive end, and can knock down the three. He's also superb at fronting opponents.

I just don't like the guy. Is there anything wrong with that? He is good defensively but he hasn't closed out on opponents this year as fast as last year. Glad he is on the team, don't think he is a reason they are winning, I think improved PG play and C play has though.

I ****ing hate Battier, so that should tell you what opposing teams think of him. I'd say hes most definitely a critical part of Miami's success. He frustrates guys better than almost anyone with his D, and has some of the timeliest 3 point shooting I've seen of anyone on any team.

Seeing that I have been Heat fan for over 10 years and sat and watched Zo in Miami Arena, I am secure in my fandom. It is an opinion. Most fans wanted to keep Urlacher around the last couple seasons and I didn't. Doesn't mean I don't like the team.

It's like reading is hard. He plays good D, fine. But the comment I made was about players that I felt changed the dynamic of this team. I felt improved PG play and C play was more necessary to their improvement this year and last. Does Battier help, yes, but I don't feel it was pertinent to win a Championship.

Miami's an unconventional team though, and in reality we kinda lucked into the Battier at the 4 thing. Had Bosh not gotten hurt in the Pacer series last year, who knows what this team would look like. As a matter of fact, Battier was a HUGE reason for Miami's championship, and Cole gave some important minutes last year in crucial moments as well. Chalmers too.

D-Leethal
04-28-2013, 08:59 PM
I think Battier's defensive versatility and 3 ball is most definitely critical, pertinent, whatever word you wanna use, to their success this year and last year. It allows LeBron to play the 4 and not always have to take the tougher defensive matchup, they are able to switch a lot with those two. You need interchangable parts like that defensively for small ball, position-less basketball to work.

OceanSpray
04-28-2013, 09:20 PM
Who would Battier defend against Bulls? Boozer? Chicago doesn't have that one star player who can dominate. No, Nate Robinson won't play like that against the defense of Miami.
