Because you cheated to make the playoffs. FT discrepancy is pretty obvious in regards to the Jazz/Mavs/Rockets. Basketball gods punished LA by handing them those injuries.

pau has a torn ligament in his middle finger. the injuries the lakers are dealing with are just colossal at this point.

but, can we give pau some credit for fighting it out. i mean, if this was kobe with a torn ligament everyone would be going out of their way to praise him for playing with injuries. confirmation bias would be rampant. pau gets the soft label, so people ignore this stuff, but i think it's worth mentioning.

he also has some really balky knees apparently that might require an off season procedure of some sort.

Composure... You can take out your frustrations by playing well, not by elbowing a guy in the head. That's the second time he's done this.

If Shaq got frustrated, dude would dominate. Dwight chooses to whine, and take cheap shots

I saw no cheap shot on that play, just surrounded by 4 players. Same when he elbowed Bonner in game 2. He's surrounded by black jerseys, that in itself is frustrating. But cheap shots? I don't think so. Even when he didn't get a foul called on Duncan in the last game (Which should've been called) he immediately lowered his shoulder into Duncan and got called for a charge.

The Spurs dont care about the LA perimeter guys. So they have 2-4 guys around Dwight at all times. He can't do anything at times, and he's frustrated about the physical play and the fact that he has no room to operate. Also, a personnel problem putting no shooters around him

Splitter has guarded him a lot too. And holding is all part of fighting for position. That is nowhere near a cheap shot. A cheap shot is what Bynum did to Barea, or what Pittman did to Stephenson. Fighting for position, grabbing, holding, etc... No way is that a cheap shot. And BTW, Dwight is doing the same thing to Tim in the post.

Quit being homerific for like half a second dude, Howard has been absolutely hounded all series and the refs have allowed it. I've already admitted it's basically means nothing with the injuries the lakers have.

Will the Bucks be sitting out half their starting lineup and bench?

For real, as long as they hold out their starting pg, starting sg, back-up pg, back-up sg, and starting sf then we'll see how the game goes.

Actually we'd probably lose anyways.

Yes, I think hack-a-anybody is cheap as ****. It was lame with Shaq and it's lame now. I'm not close to the only person who feels this way, so thanks for trying to e-outcast me, I guess?

And the holding that Duncan has gotten away with all series while getting the same calls on the other end is cheap as hell too. I've literally conceded that it hasn't affected the outcome of the series and you're still trying to fight every point. I don't even have the energy to readdress every point again and again. Sorry.

No, I know folks hate hack a whoever... I said you're alone in thinking holding and intentional fouls are cheap shots. I pointed out examples of cheap shots...

I'm simply trying to explain the difference between hounding/hard fouls & cheap shots. And Pop has only went to hack a dwight a few times, I could probably count on 1 hand. They foul him so he doesn't get an easy dunk/lay up. That is absolutely not a cheap shot, it's called playing your percentages and playing to the other teams weakness.

No need to keep going on I guess, you and I have different opinions on what's a cheap shot and what's not. But I did feel the need to try and clarify

Yeah, but us rocket fan never pump our chest talking about how we going to rape the whole league, going 82-0, automatic championship.. We know this rockets team isn't a championship contender, we're realistic.. We know this playoff is all about building experience, which goes along way. When it's all said and done, the $100,000,000 lakers, David Stern pride and joy will be on the same boats, as the houston rockets, the youngest team with least playoff experience, gone fishing.

Exactly. It was not the Spurs fault. They did what they had to do and now can get healthy themselves. The Lakers took advantage of Manu not being 100% back in 08. It sucks to not see teams play eachother at full strength. There is always "what ifs"

Dude, I dont think it was just Laker fans that thought they would be good. I have seen a lot of fans from other teams saying this Laker teams was one of the biggest dissapointments in league history due to what THEY expected from the Lakers. Usually the most talented teams in the NBA wins. The Lakers have one of the most "talented" teams in the league. That is why Laker and non Laker fans thought they would be great. Did not pan out but can you blame anyone for looking at that roster and thinking they would not be successful barring injuries?

Plus, did you see any Laker fans saying they were going to win a championship in the later parts of the season? I would say that about 90% of Laker fans knew exactly what would happen. So you saying that people were puffing out their chest was obviously from last summer.

Funny thing is you called the Rockets and Warriors "crap and mediocre teams". Houston is by far the most inexperienced team in the playoffs. Yes they got blown out game one but games 2 and 3 have come down to a one possesion game. The Lakers on the other hand got blown out in every single game. The Spurs outscored the Lakers by 18.8 ppg in their sweep, tied for the fourth-largest ppg differential in an NBA best-of-seven-series. Yeah I realize ya'll have injuries but also take into account that Parker is not 100% atm either.

Expect for GS and Houston to get better next season.

The Thunder were the prohibitive favorites to represent the west in the Finals before the Westbrook injury. Winning in the playoffs on their home court is no easy task, especially for a young team. Im sure the Lakers wouldn't have faired any better versus OKC, even with a healthy Kobe.

Oh yeah I agree with you. Houston is young and many people don't realize that we came into the season with an incomplete roster since the plan initially was to rebuild. Morey traded Patterson, our starting four and his primary backup in Morris and went exclusively with rookies. Although the young guys showed flashes of potential overall they were very inconsistent. Next season im sure they'll upgrade the position and that will do wonders because we are getting absolutely nothing out of that spot in terms of defense and rebounding.

Well that's your problem right there.

This wasn't a loss when Kobe was done, the Lakers went 8-14 all year with Nash, Pau, Kobe and Dwight playing on the court. Kobe would not have made a difference in this series.

How would I remember this Lakers season? Probably one of the biggest failures in sports history. Not THE biggest, but definitely in the top 3.

Steve Nash all year was never allowed to be the point guard that he is. People are going to forget this, I won't, is that Kobe made everybody adjust to him. He refused to adjust anything to accommodate his teammates. You had Steve Nash setting screens for Kobe, being a spot up shooter.

The perfect mental image, snapshot of the Lakers season is Steve Nash setting a pick for Kobe. That summed up their entire, inept season.

How can you even compare these two series? Half the damn team was injured for the Lakers, including 3 starters. Also, Parker did not seem greatly limited. The injuries for both teams did not balance out in any way. The problem is that the Lakers had very little room for error because they were top loaded compared to most other teams in the playoffs.

DODGERS&LAKERS

Well that's your problem right there.

What is the problem? No team goes through all those injuries and lives to talk about it. The Wolves almost had as bad of luck but they were way worse than the Lakers. The fact that the Lakers got to 45-37 tells us about them.

This wasn't a loss when Kobe was done, the Lakers went 8-14 all year with Nash, Pau, Kobe and Dwight playing on the court. Kobe would not have made a difference in this series.

Heat were 9-8 through 17 games. That is 17 games in a row played with the same lineup. Why did they struggle? Becuase you have to develop chemistry. How do you develop that? By playing together and learning eachothers tendencies. The lineup of Howard, Gasol, Peace, Bryant, Nash never played more than 4 games in a row without one of them being injured. You will not have any chemistry that way and every time you bring those pieces back together they will have to try and develop that chemistry again.

How would I remember this Lakers season? Probably one of the biggest failures in sports history. Not THE biggest, but definitely in the top 3.

You mispelled unlucky. Failure? They went 45-37 in the west while having the worse luck of any NBA team of any NBA season. Go fetch me a team who had more injuries to their main players. In the regular season and post season.

Steve Nash all year was never allowed to be the point guard that he is. People are going to forget this, I won't, is that Kobe made everybody adjust to him. He refused to adjust anything to accommodate his teammates. You had Steve Nash setting screens for Kobe, being a spot up shooter.

Well Steve had his chance when Kobe was out right? They couldnt even score 90 points. Nash turnover % was near 20!! He was awful due to having a broken leg, then a bad back and hip. Why would you want to ride someone that hard when they are so beat up? That is just dumb.

So Parker not being 100% (looked pretty healthy to me) is equal to......

Dwight- torn labrum in right shoulder
Pau- Torn plantar fascia, swollen knees, torn ligament in shooting hand
Metta- Torn meniscus (same issue that will cause Westbrooke to miss the rest of the season)
Kobe- Ruptured achilles
Nash- back, leg, hip
Blake- Torn abdomen, pulled hamstring
Meeks- Torn ligament in ankle
Jamison- Torn wrist ligament that requires surgery
Hill- Torn labrum in hip

Cool story bro. I am glad you told it.

Ask yourself if that makes sense for Nash, the smallest player on the court and a natural play maker, to be reduced to setting screens on Kobe?

It was pathetic! But the problem was that Nash was reduced to that stupid role because Kobe refused to adjust to anyone. He forced Nash and Dwight to adjust to him and his style and that's why the Lakers struggled. Nash and Howard never got to fully demonstrate what they were capable of.
