Hoping the Warriors play a lot more Bogut/Ezeli combo in the frontcourt to clog the middle and forcing the Nuggets to shoot from the outside. Waaaayyy easier said than done. Faried is going to make a huge difference. Warriors are going to have run their offense through Bogut and just move on offense and make that extra pass. Steph is also going to have to drop like 35 and not turn the ball over. Meeerp.

lol, please
04-23-2013, 02:47 AM
Dubs win this one for DLee, wwl, mibs, DoMeFavors, and CousinsEvansDUO. Bogut with a double double. Curry and Klay combine for 15 3s.

Not a lock for Denver, but they pretty much just don't lose at home. Not since 1/18, at least. Add to that the fact that Lee is out and Faried is back, and the odds are heavily in the Nuggets' favor.

3iverson3
04-23-2013, 05:16 AM
Yup^ let's to nuggs! I want to see how Faried and McGee do together in the playoffs. McGee goes for the blocks, as he should to protect the paint and alter shots, and that is why we need Faried. To go and clean the boards. If we advance I can see afraid possibly stealing a game or changing it completely with his hustle.

Really? I think they can take on Spurs. They won twice to them this year and lost by one at San Antonio. If they can beat the warriors they can take on the Spurs. I am not comparing the two but just saying that gsw are a great three point shooting team and that if we can beat them we could withstand Spurs shooting as well. Obviously Spurs will be tough because they are so well coached and good defensively but we have a great chance.

Nah, you can't. Nuggets three point defense is awful. Spurs are really good at that.

The problem with having your only/biggest weakness as the three point shot, is a lot of teams do really good in that.

Not sure what deficiencies you can exploit against the Spurs. They defend the paint well, the three point line, score inside and outside.

I am not sure how the Nuggets can beat them barring injury.

I agree the Spurs would be the clear favorites, but if the Nuggets did pull off the upset it would have a lot to do with their pace and athleticism.

The same exact way they beat them 2-1 on the season series. They lost by one a last second missed lay up. Could have very easily been a season sweep.

I'll just be honest here, as a nuggets fan thats like my wet dream

teams that try to go small with the nuggets lose, its the teams that play big, clog the paint, and post up that beat the nuggs, when you dont have any advantage over Karls favorite lineup the 2 pg set up you are in trouble, I would recommend starting Ezeli to be honest

They have a chance against spurs. We can beat them. It will be way harder without Gallo who has done so good against them this year. We have showed that we can beat anyone in the west. Without Gallo it will be extremely hard though

Yea but teams do not beat the nuggets, this year, 4 times on three ball alone. We can run against the spurs, defend, attack, and rebound well against them. I would feel much more confident with Gallo though.

i didnt say they couldnt.. but they are in trouble.. beating the spurs in san antonio is easier said then done. Denver will more than hold their own at home and i can see the series going 7. but i can also see the home team winning every game.. this of course assuming the nuggets win this series. which i see them doing in 5 or 6

I agree, if the W's can make the Nuggets into a half-court team the chances of the Warriors winning will be much higher.

There was a chart that showed the Nuggets offensive efficiency is exactly the same no matter the pace.

Slowing it down is still important though because it increases the random variation.

I don't believe the W's can out run/gun Denver. In this Series it's best for the W's to play half-court ball against Denver.

The Warriors need to get out and run, but also stop Denver from running. Take care of the ball, make shots, rebound as a team, and play transition defense. Do that and barring another lifetime performance from Andre Miller, the Warriors will win

Although I don't agree with you because you can't base his ability to play the 4 off of one game whereas David has been consistent thoughout the whole year, I do agree that this is a good sign that we can slide him up to the 4 when needed. And yeah, this is his first time starting at the 4.

Maybe its just me since I've always been defense oriented even from since high school bball days, but Denver and GSW should be ashamed they gave up 131 and 117 points in a playoff game that didn't go more than 4 quarters.

That is truly a despicable disgrace, and there is no excuse for that level of defense disregard in a playoff game.

Denver's defense was atrocious for sure, and GW's wasn't that great. But you do understand pace, right? When two fast-paced teams face off, points allowed per game (especially if you're evaluating things through the lens of Eastern Conference teams) really won't provide an accurate representation of how good or bad the defense was. Eg., the Nuggets finished the regular season in the bottom 3rd in opponent ppg, but 11th in defensive efficiency (adjusted for pace). So I'd say that you're right that the D was crap, but to an extent you're right for the wrong reason, if that makes sense.

I agree that its not always about points, but the warriors also shot 51-79 from the floor (65%)

Allowing a team to shoot 65% is horrible defense no matter what tempo the game is played at. Thats like the shooting % for all star games where the players make a point to avoid playing defense.

All of that's true (and I said Denver's defense was "atrocious" in my post), but the poster I was replying to was using ppg, not percentages. Not trying to be overly pedantic here. But just to turn the tables, if, say, in the CHI/BKN series, if we had a score of 85-81 (either way), it would be a mistake to assume based on a relatively low score that both teams played terrible offense. Even if both teams *did* play bad offense, the point totals are not sufficient information to tell us that. That's all I'm getting at.

Yes, but defense dictates pace. Playing hard nosed defense a team will use up more time in the shot clock searching for a higher percentage shot, and the pace will decrease. The only thing that can justify a high PPG and a high FG% that has nothing to do with defense is if the team turns it over a bunch of times, and I mean a ton. At the end of the day defense controls the pace by forcing a high shot clock usage and limiting 2nd chance points via defensive rebounding, it controls the amount of FGA of opponents if they are able to force turnovers, and controls FTA of opponents by playing good defense without fouling, and these all ultimately impact PPG. And this disregards FG% which was mentioned already as Denver let GSW just go off completely.

Not true. Denver plays really good defense (other than this game.) They can play fast and get back on defense. They forced rush shots and they miss more often than not.

actually, a lot of people are saying stuff like this. It shouldnt be a shock that the warriors have been able to stay with the nuggets the first few games. Its not because of galinari being out.

I know denver won the season series 3-1, but one of those games was gift wrapped for them in double over time by Klay thompson (Missed 2 free throws, and didnt even try to use their foul to give with less than 6 seconds in the game). Aside from the final being 3-1, two of the games went in to OT, one went into double OT, and one was won by 2 points in regulation (which could have went the other way as well- but a final 3 pointer that went in was ruled late).

The games between the nuggets and warriors really could have easily went either way. Its good for the nuggets that they found a way to come away with wins in those games- but its ridiculous to think the warriors cant play with the nuggets... even with gallo.

BTW- the game two loss was a serious lack of defense by denver. Their offense wasnt bad... 117 points shooting over 50%. But when you are allowing 65% shooting, with a lot of 3s falling as well, and turning the ball over.- It really doesnt matter what other good things your doing- its gonna be a tough game to win

Golden State's a different team when Bogut's there (who they had not played against until the first play of game 1 - a bogut swat into warriors hands), and I think they match up very evenly. Tough teams have a way of making other good teams look bad. We also have the best player on the court, which certainly makes a difference. It's too bad the W's did not take both of those, but 1 will do. They've proven they can win in Denver in a game 7 if it comes down to it.

Warriors just made it a Series and they should be up 2-0, its going 7 games.

its going to be CRAZY in Oracle Arena, Warriors fans bring it! its a different home court come playoff time.

Denver is the better team

that being said they are playing atrociously, and if they keep this up I hope the Warriors **** on them, if they dont come to play they dont deserve to win, kudos to Golden State for showing up even though theyre a young team too

actually, a lot of people are saying stuff like this.

You can't use the season series to indicate who is better. In those games bogut and chandler didn't play in any of them. chandler only played in one actually. Also warriors had a better record when we played all those games and Denver was like 7th place. Complete different teams now without lee and gallo as well
