Nice win, didn't think we had a chance tonight. We definitely should have put up more runs but oh well. Farrell made some questionable decisions, thankfully none of them ended up costing us the game.

Also, to those saying Aceves blows, he did his job tonight. He should have never been brought out for the 6th inning. You could tell he was gassed by the end of the 5th and then the immediate walk in the 6th should have been the last batter he faced. It is not his fault that his manager waited too long to pull him. I was very pleased with Aceves all things considered tonight.

There was a lot of hard contact. Victorino saved a lot of runs today too. With Aceves starting you just have to hope to survive. I would never pick him up in fantasy, I'm sure he didn't help your whip.

I went with a hunch, had he been taken out when he was supposed to it would've worked out to perfection. Also, I'm predicting that we'll be 19-6 (maybe 18-7) by the time we finish up the 4 games against Houston. Yeah, I said it.

Melo15

Definitely. Victorino certainly helped him out a ton with his arm and some of those catches he made. I love how easy he makes those catches look. With Aceves, like you said, we just hope to survive. All he's asked to do is keep us in the game. He certainly did that. If he would have been pulled after the 5th like most figured he would be there would be a different feeling around his performance.

I agree JBJ will be sent to the minors when Ortiz comes back, but if he wasn't, I would bank on JBJ getting hot with more at bats and Nava's current production falling off going forward.

Santana is a switch hitter.

@ RedSoxChamp, Koki only gave up one run. Calm down bro.If miller was still in the game, the score might have been a little different now.

Because Miller was terrible and Farrell didn't want to have a heart attack

We are playing some serious mid-season Tampa Bay Ray type of baseball.

Outstanding pitching from the entire staff, to go with stellar defence.

Chip away offence/timely hitting (without Ortiz yet)

I love it!

The fact that this team has a shot at being 10 games above .500 by the end of weekend is pretty amazing.

Yankees lost. Sox are 2.5 ahead of the Yanks, 3 ahead of O's

Can we wait until August before we get constant updates of our division rivals and the standings?

What's with Pedroia and strikeouts? He's not driving the ball, just 2 measly XBH on the season.

Key word here is Early. I agree with Lav lets not get ahead of are selves here with the Standings & judging players. Its only the 3rd week of April.

every game matters and so far so good.

The belief that games at the end of the season are more important than the beginning is just 100% false

But if you turned our record around and we were 4-11, I guarantee the season would be over. Wins matter NOW and in September.

Just keep on WINNING baby!

What I find interesting about the standings right now is that they seem to be in the reverse order of what many people were predicting, i.e. Tampa and Toronto on top, Sox and Yanks on the bottom. of course, the season isn't even 10% complete yet, but it is intriguing to see the Sox doing better than expected and the Jays and Rays doing worse.

Pedroia historically has his lowest SLG by month in April (.416) and May (.404), and picks up markedly from there (.455, .530, .499, .469)

He's fielding well, and his OBP ranks about 6th on a monthly basis in his career.

Not to worry - yet.

Purely on math - sure. Depends on the circumstances however. If you're barely in a race in Sep, those wins I don't count as much as I do with a team fighting for the top spot. Take a look at the last 50 games of the 1967 Red Sox to see how a team that's at best the 5th most talented team in the league won the pennant, and did it under immense pressure on a daily basis. Study the 1978 Red Sox for a different story.

yea i mean the only difference is just you better understand the importance of the game later in the season, but in the end they all count the same whether you know the circumstances or not.
