Jacoby, Pedroia, Lester, Buchholz, and Hanrahan.
Update:adding Ortiz to list since there is a DH spot

How about you guys, who do you think will be all stars?

lester and pedroia. not ready to claim ellsbury or buchholz are officially back to their all-star self's. ellsbury is probably more likely than buchholz. i still think hanrahan will hit some rough waters.

we had 1 last year, right? 5 would be a huge jump

3 if you want to include Napoli and Hanrahan. But 1 Red Sox last year, Ortiz, and no DH this year.

That's right... I hear Ortiz is working out at 1B and LF for NL games, and Napoli working out at C for NL games as well.

There's a DH for all ASG's now. Anyways, I can see Pedroia and Lester make it and possibly Jacoby/Buch. Hell, if Ortiz comes back before April ends I could see him in it just because of the fan vote.

Lester, Pedroia, Jacoby, Ortiz, Hanrahan, Buchholz.

Either one of those guys can make it.

middlebrooks is gonna be tough. miggy and longo are gonna block him pretty firmly. and guys like beltre, and even...gasp...youkilis will get a lot of votes too from fans. i really doubt he makes it, unless he keeps belting homers at this pace (which he wont)

I think it will be Lester, Pedi and Ellsbury. I think that like the poster above said Middlebrooks is blocked..

Middlebrooks won't make it. Beltre, Longoria, Cabrera, etc.

I don't really care either way. A glorified exhibition game has not interest me in about 5+ year.

Pedroia, Lester, WMB, Ells, Hanrahan, Buchholz are people I see having that potential.

Pedria and Lester and possible Ellsbury and outside shots are Bucholz if he keeps pitching well Victorino I never thaught I mention him if he keeps doing well and Dempster if he gets runs support and better defense when he pitches and Bailey. Anyone thinks Hanraham is on drugs.

pardon the bump. i did my voting today. I voted for Pedroia and Ortiz. both should be locks.

buchholz is a lock at this point. i think lester probably is on the outside looking in.

i'd imagine davis and fielder make it ahead of napoli. he could be the third choice, but there's some solid competition.

ellsbury is the only other guy who could get in IMO. the outfield play in the AL seems to be down big time. besides trout, jones, bautista and alex gordon, i'm not sure who else is really blocking him too much. maybe kelly johnson and gardner (voting). i think he could squeak in, but who knows.

still predicting 3 all-stars.

I say Ortiz, Pedroia and Bucholz are locks and Lester has a shot as while as Lackey if he keeps pitching well.

Gotta remember that this is a popularity contest...

David Ortiz is first in voting for the designated hitter position for the American League in the All-Star Game. Ortiz has 1,045,283 votes so far. Lance Berkman of the Rangers is in second place with 672,547 votes.

Ortiz is hitting .333 with a 1.023 OPS, 10 home runs, and 36 RBIs in 39 games. He is an eight-time All-Star and four times was elected as a starter.

The All-Star Game is July 16 at Citi Field in New York. Voting can be done inside ballparks up until June 28 and online until July 4 at 11:59 p.m (EDT). The rosters will be announced July 7.

Mike Napoli is third in the voting at first base with 380,448 votes. He trails Chris Davis of the Orioles (1,176,016) and Prince Fielder of the Tigers (1,059,300).

Dustin Pedroia is third in the voting at second base with 642,419 votes. He trails Yankees star Robinson Cano (1,235,230) and Ian Kinsler of the Rangers (656,827).

Jarrod Saltalamacchia is fifth among catchers.

Jacoby Ellsbury (ninth) and Shane Victorino (14th) are well behind in the outfield voting.Boston.com

Lester isn't going to make it unless he rips off 4 wins and a 1.75 ERA in the remainder of his starts. He's only made the ASG 2 of the 4 times he should have made it. He's seen as a 2nd tier ace.

Ortiz, Pedroia (higher rWAR then Miggy), Buchholz for sure.

Napoli is close, but too much competition (21st best positional player in the AL) - no.

Drew is surprisingly to some the 35th best positional player in the AL - but no shot.

Ellsbury is the 25th best in the AL, and he's got a 50/50 shot.

Nava is 41st, having missed a few games and playing corner OF a bit below average. He's got some shot, but not much.

Uehara is possible, but he'd have to be out of his mind the rest of the way.

Why do you guys think Lester has a better shot than Buchholz?? Buchholz has been better than Lester thus far

I'm going with Buchholz, Petey, Lester, and Napoli (as a back-up)

Lester is cold right now, I expect him to go on a nice little streak into the ASB. I think that just edges him into the ASG.

Buchholz, Lester, Pedroia, Ortiz.

If there's a setup guy on the team, it'll be Ryan Cook, so Uehara is out of luck. Robbie Ross is probably ahead of him too.

Melancon is 4th in fWAR among relievers this year :laugh2:. He's just a 2nd division warrior.

Uehara is possible, but he'd have to be out of his mind the rest of the way.

RP seem to be a safe pick for a team like the Astros who HAVE to place a player on the roster. Doubt he really gets an honest look.
