Former Chicago Bulls standout Tom Boerwinkle died Tuesday at the age of 67.

Boerwinkle had been fighting a long battle with Myelodysplastic syndromes, a form of leukemia, according to Bulls.com.

"We were all heartbroken this morning to learn of the passing of Tom Boerwinkle," Bulls executive vice president of business operations Steve Schanwald said in a statement. "In addition to being one of the Bulls all-time great players, Tom was one of the kindest men you would ever want to meet with the gentlest of souls. A true gentle giant who made great contributions to the Chicago Bulls organization on and off the court. We will miss him greatly and our condolences go out to his wife, Linda, his son, Jeff, and his daughter, Gretchen."

Boerwinkle, a 7-footer, played all 10 years of his NBA career in Chicago and ranks second in franchise history in rebounds (5,745), third in seasons played, fifth in games played (635) and eighth in assists (2,007).

He was the fourth pick of the 1968 draft out of Tennessee.

really? he was a big bruiser type of player like Willis Reed. Tough to match up against. Fairly good passer as well.
