Please hear me out before calling this thread pointless. We all know the heat are riding a really good winning streak and with a win tonight against Chicago it would 30? They already clinched their division and are likely to win the Title again. Now me personally if I were Eric Spoelstra I would say this win the next 4 games, but then lose the next oh 5-10. We already have home court advantage so what difference would it make if we lose the next 5-10 games? I understand the Heat and their fans love seeing their team win but if I were a fan or player I would seriously be scared shitless. I can see the Heat winning the Eastern Conference and playing whoever comes out of the West. But I can also see them tanking the Finals against the Western team only because of all the pressure ridding on them with this winning streak. Does this make any sense? Even a little?

if they break it, they'll want to extend it as much as possible

I understand that but look at the 07 Patriots they go 18-0 and lose the SB. I wished they would of went 15-1 then go 18-0 and lose the SB.

the competitive nature of the players will not allow them to throw games

i prefer to think that when they'll lose is because their opponent was better and not because they had lots of pressure due to winning a lot of consecutive games.

your logic is ridiculous and so is the comparison

you lost me at "but then lose the next oh 5-10". why would a coach ever tell a contending team to lose? i mean, i don't see how pressure carries over to the playoffs. losing a game might be good just to get it all over with, but why do they need to tank 5-10 games?

the pats didn't lose in the super bowl because they went undefeated. they lost to a team that matched up amazingly against them and had david tyree.

Heat fan here. Me personally I don't want to break this record. Looks like we won't either. Either way play the games but give lbj , wade, and bosh more rest. Don't sit them but start cutting there minutes back. Healthy in the playoffs is all I want.

If Spoelstra told the team to the last games of the season, He would lose his job the next day man and if he kep this job, he would lose the locker room anyways.

I said 5-10 just as a safe beat I should of said 2 games. I understand that about the Pats but so many including me wanted them to go undefeated it was just to much pressure on them. There is no one here who can say they didn't feel any pressure in that game.

How? You don't think people wanted the Pats to go 19-0? What comparison would you have made?

there is no comparison to be made. The Pats didnt lose bcuz there was too much pressure on them. they lost bcuz of an unbeleivable catch to a team that nearly beat them 5 weeks prior.

bball playoffs are nothing like football its a 7 game series to 1 game elim for football. I cant believe i even felt the need to type that

Absolutely not, I might limit minutes and bring the bench in earlier than usual, but the last thing id want to do going into the playoffs would be to instruct the players to play lazy basketball.
