Check this guys highlights out of his dunks for Ohio St https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qxId5A14dg.
His offense game is developing to go around with his insane athleticism that I really haven't seen on the college stage. This guy gets at least 3 - 4 dunks per game that are out of this world now and they have been increasingly crazy. He leaps out of the gym.

Dunking ability doesn't matter. This guy isn't even a top 60 draft prospect.

His offensive game is just starting to come around. There is nobody in American with the exception of Lebron and Griffin that can dunk like him.If his offensive game is really coming around, this guy will be the full package.Fwiw his homwtown is chicago,Illinois ;)

Scouting report.High high upside.

StanMusial
03-23-2013, 03:53 PM
Notice the scout report says he can be on the major - high level.Plus this was a conensus top 50 recruit, and the only reason not top 10 is his shooting has lacked. But he is really shooting well now if you watch Ohio St games.

one trick pony. how did you see that and think of lebron? simple-minded much?

Thompson averages 8-3.5 as a sophomore in college. At the same age, Bron was going for 27-7-7 and was 1st team all NBA.

See a difference?

They said the same about Kwame Brown... Stop the crap. Is Sam paying you to advertise?

It's on thing to dunk on College athletes, and it's another to dominate the NBA

StanMusial

I wana point out that Thompson suffers from having D.Thomas shooting way too much and last year Sullinger was the main scoring guy.But this guy is super under the radar.People need to follow this kid more and see just how skilled he is.

That doesn't mean he's LeBron James and thus defeats the purpose of this thread.

There is nothing Sam Thompson can't do.He jumps out of the gym.Wasn't the same thing said about Lebron James? Plus Lebron wasn't 3/4 the shooter he was when he came into the league. But people knew he had athleticism second to none, same with Sam.

Yesterday Jim Nantz told everyone "there is a kid who nobody knows anything about but is very skilled" talking about Sam Thompson.Jim doesn't hype people up for nothing.

Andrew Wiggins is the closest thing to the next Lebron..

Nantz is really nothing special. What makes his opinion worth sharing? If this was coming from someone like Izzo or Coach K, it might just mean something. Play by play guys just call the game, that's it. I could care less what Nantz thinks.

I would not make as big of a deal of his dunks if I didn't see him develop an outside shot. But he has been hitting 3s and swishing free throws as well. That plus his huge wingspan and huge arms that look like Giant tree branches I wouldn't make as big of a deal. But he has everything in him to be a mega star. You must be blind if you don't see it in the video I posted.

Highlight packages mean nothing. Watching a whole game is much more indicative of his true play. Not a collection of broken down plays resulting in him getting half his dunks.

Before this becomes a Sam Thompson bashing thread(already has) he is clearly not the next Lebron. I don't know what the guy who made this thread was thinking.

Sam thompson is a very good dunker though and can jump to the moon. He's alot of fun to watch. Can shoot some too. But not Lebron James.

Heck if he turns to Lebron James 2k0 you will be eating your words.

Did you mean 2.0? 2k0 would stand for 2000......pretty sure so far there has only been one Lebron James. Or is he the robot version? Talks like the Terminator?

Instead of the trainers room they have mechanics work on him at the half?
Lies in oil instead of salt baths?
I am going to stop now or I could go all day.

In all seriousness though. Watched the video, impressive athleticism. Let's give the kid a chance before he gets compared to Lebron or any all-star for that matter. Comparing anyone to Lebron is ridiculous at this point. Like comparing someone to MJ in the early 90s.

Exaggerating to prove your point is never a good course of action. Just throwing it out there. Especially bad on PSD.

Be careful when comparing great players to college players. Just because you see someone make big dunks doesn't mean they're the next Lebron. Maybe name the thread "Next big Superstar". You're just asking for hate if you say stuff like this.

Next LeBron? that's a major statement. He's not 6'9 275, with pg speed, handle quick, and vision. The NBA is filled with guys with talent who are not stars: J.R Smith, Gearld Green, James White, go back to Harold Miner, Ricky Davis. He has talent but he isn't even the best player at OSU maybe not in the top three

This is absurd. Go talk about college players in the NCAA forum, or make a comparison in the comparison forum.
