I have been one of Deron's biggest critics throughout the year for his lackluster play, but I will begin to give him some credit he has turned it around. He has shot the ball, at a much better clip since the All-Star break while being able to play better defense. Look at the numbers (Post All-Star Game):

37.9 .480 .454 .842 2.9 7.6 0.2 1.2 23.9

Where would you guys currently rank him. I love looking at the overall body of work so right now, without Rose, I would probably put him right around #5 behind Paul, Westbrook, Irving, and Parker.

It's close but I can Agree with him being top 5 pg. he has played great since the Allstar break, been impressed with his 3 point shooting.

Was gonna make a thread about this, noticed he has been absoulutely balling as of late (Wall as well). As of now he's still behind Paul, Parker, Irving and Westbrook pretty comfortably. However, if he can get back to his Utah level of play only pg I'd be content in putting over him is Paul (Kyrie will probably be better than him by that time as well, but let's just leave him out for now).

Would still be the best PG in the NBA if he was in Utah.

Btw, even if Rondo wasn't injured, he would've been better than Rondo.

Good to see him finally regaining some of his form.

If the Nets want to go anywhere this year they will need him to be the best player on their team game in and game out.

Well now you're overrating him.

Probably a top 7 point guard. I would have him behind guys like CP3/Westbrook/Rose/Parker/Irving and Holiday

Until then, that Brook Lopez fella isn't so bad. But him and Deron are the least of their worries. But I don't have enough confidence that Joe Johnson is gonna raise his game up in the playoffs. Wildcards for the Nets imo are Blatche and Gforce.

False. With D-Rose and Rondo out, he would be.

Good thing for me that the Clippers have that good Pg, Eric Bledsoe then.

I'm not really seeing the case for Jrue over Deron.

To my knowledge, he just wasn't healthy.

He was never the best PG in the NBA.

Getting in shape, getting healthy, really helps your overall basketball game. I feel like that was the biggest problem with d-will this year

no he wasnt. but was in the conversation at 1 point. i believe it was him and cp3 arguably the best pgs in the game.

The problem is there are so many good PGs. And a lot of young up and coming guys like kyrie, jrue, Lillard and maybe even wall. He was never at Paul's level IMO but he was top 3 for a long time. I have him top 5-6 range with rose out and I would have him over rondo even if he was healthy

He wasn't in shape which was his fault so he deserved to get heat for that but he has looked impressive lately.

He's great when in form and playing like he is now.

But eventually you know he's gonna start whining and get someone fired.

He's been looking amazing lately. If he played March for an entire season, he could've been the best PG.

Good thread. He deserves to be recognized as a top PG again. My list for this current season would look something like this:

Chris Paul
Tony Parker
Russell Westbrook
Stephen Curry
Deron Williams
Kyrie Irving

I think there is a small drop off here before we get to the Jrue/Lawson/Lillard group.

I would like to add that he and CP3 (Jazz/Hornets versions) used to be neck and neck for best PG so when Paul got injured I had Deron as the #1 PG in the game.

False. With D-Rose and Rondo out, he would be.

Dwill has never at any point been the best PG in the NBA and now your just Sleeping on Chris Paul there is no way Rose or rondo have ever been even arugeably better than Paul.

You probably just began watching basketball. He was neck and neck with Chris Paul back in the Utah days.

He's better than Kyrie.

CP3, Parker, Westbrook, Deron & then Irving.

Only year that I had him as one, but saying "He would still be the best" implies that if he was in Utah and Paul was with the Clips, he'd be better than Paul and I can't frankly just can't see it.

He was clearly playing injured the first half of the season, he looked horrible. Post allstar break he has lost a lot of weight and his ankles are healthier. He looks like a top-3 PG again.

There 2nd season he took Utah to the ECF he was at the very least at CP3's level and the year before he was traded CP3's knee werent holding up. They were close.

A couple week stretch does not mean dwill is back this guy is a fringe top 10 pg in the league right now, i would take in no particular order.

rose, westbrook, irving, parker, paul, rondo, (this is where d-will starts to fall in, his past accolades allow him to be here but other players preformances now are out shining him) holiday, lawson, dwill, jennings

actualy top 10

1. rose
2. paul
3. rondo
4. westbrook
5. irving
6. parker
7.dwill
8.lawson
9.jennings
10. holiday

dwill can easily be out of the top 10, jennings holiday and lawson are a sniff away

A couple of weeks? How about a couple of years? Anyone who has watched basketball longer than 4 months that DWILL was playing injured and not himself and to have Tony Parker who has been the best PG in the NBA this season behind Kyrie freaking Irving at #6 is just flat out disrespectful

The fact that you put D.Rose on the list as a top PG is just nonsense. He hasn't played a single game yet this season and is already the best PG? Even when D.Rose was 100%, he wasn't playing as good as Westbrook is right now.

Curry > Williams.
