The guy has basically been defending positions 1-4 the entire year very well, not to mention he's not exactly a spring chicken anymore. He deserves the recognition, of course he won't get it because the Lakers underachieved and his coach is anti-defense, but any of you defensive enthusiast have to appreciate the job he is doing. Ron Ron is really doing his thing!!!!

Why would you say second team and not first team? Seems kinda random.

No way he get's recognized as first team, too old and too much politics. But within reason he should make second team.

1st team would probably have:

cp3
tony allen
Lebron
duncan/kg
Noah/Larry Sanders

2nd team:

bledsoe
bradley
iggy
duncan/kg
noah/larry sanders

i doubt bradley or iggy will be replaced by MWP.
3rd team has a chance, DEFINATELY not first and no to 2nd.

MWP has looked atrocious on defense at times this season. Feet stuck in cement. He has improved as of late, though. His post defense is still elite. His face up defense is HORRID at times as he doesn't move his feet.

he deserves life time suspension from this league!

His lateral quickness is completely gone but the fact that he can defend multiple positions earns him defensive honors in my book. I watched him defend Boozer, KG, Melo.... those are some bad boys for an undersized slow guy.....

He's inconsistent. He DOMINATES average players. But is just awful when it comes to good and above players.

So based on his inconsistencies, I'd say no. I'd also like to say no on prop 8.

MWP will not make it over Tony Allen, Iggy, or Bradley. He will be lucky to make it into third.

lemme guess, because he pays for LA, a team you prolly watch more than any other.

As a Laker fan, I can honestly say that is one of the most laughable things I've heard all year and that is saying something. MWP should not cross the mind of anyone voting for the defensive teams.

if this thread were true maybe the lakers would be a higher seed

Grant Hill deserved ANY all-defensive team spot as a Sun and never got it. Doubt MWP gets on it.

Lol MWP's defense has been atrocious all season. He is only good at post defense and the occasional left handed steal

He probably plays some of the best post D in the league vs Boozer, Zach, Dirk, Hoford, and the like because he's a tank and his hands are so fast (his feet aren't though). I'd put him maybe on third if you listed PFs as that is what he has basically been this year, PF with Clark at SF

Yeah his D on Z-Bo and Horford in particular was pretty impressive. Even though he's slower now he's still got pretty quick hands and is good for a rip or two and even still shoots the gap for a steal occasionally........
