ok, lets get this out of the way im by nomeans a kobe fan, so please take your mind to the REALQUESTION and dont focus on yesterday.

The thing is.

If you do a reckless foul, an intentional foul, a malitious foul.
And the other player gets injured.

should the player that made the malitious foul be suspended UNTIL the other player comes back from his injury?

Ok im not talking bout a fortuitous foul here.

Im talking bout **** like this:

so, if thsoe players get injured, should the infractor be out for the same amount of time?

For plays like those? Maybe. 100% obvious, unnecessary and dirty plays? I wouldn't be against it.

Plays like last night? Nah.

It's the act that should be punished, not the resultant, especially if it's a basketball move. 99 times out of 100 what Dahntay did isn't gonna injure someone. All that he did was commit a foul, and it's a shame that Kobe got hurt...but a foul is a foul, and an flukish injury shouldn't change that.

Plays like the ones you posted... absolutely agree with you. If it is 100% obvious that it was an intentional hard foul like that, they should sit as long as the injured player is out for.

Something like what bynum did to Barea in the playoffs, sure. It has to be 100%, no questions asked, no inkling of doubt that it was intentional.

no.

like the baseball thing the other day. punish the act, not the result. dude charged the mound and a freak injury happened. it sucks, but he should just be punished like every other player to charge the mound. it's not an eye-for-an-eye.

It becomes too subjective deciding what deserves full punishment or not. Slippery slope. I vote no.

punishment of some sort yes, but as KoB said, it's subjective.
