http://www.blueshirtbanter.com/2013/3/11/4089812/marc-staal-injury-could-marc-staal-really-return-in-2-3-weeks

There were several rumors floating around Twitter this morning, about the possibility of Marc Staal returning in two to three weeks. All of this was stemming from a report by Kevin Paul Dupont of the Boston Globe via Twitter, "Provided no hiccups, [Rangers] figuring Staal to miss another 2-3 weeks."

Fast forward a few hours as Andrew Gross tried to get an answer out of the New York Rangers. According to Gross, the New York Rangers neither confirmed or denied the report by Dupont, which could put a bizarre twist on this whole situations. At first, it's a little weird to see Staal going from being "out indefinitely", to only missing a couple of weeks. It's also a little strange to see someone who's doesn't cover the team, come out with a very bold statement like that. Maybe Dupont knows something that everyone else doesn't?

Either way, I wouldn't read too much into the original rumor, as there has been no official confirmation from the team or the media covering the Rangers. But hey, if he's right and Staal is actually back in 2-3 weeks, you won't see me complaining.

Strange that the Rangers didn't come out and either confirm or deny it publicly but it would be great if it was true.

The Rangers have become notorious for not disclosing injuries, so I'm not surprised really.

Yeah Torts has that Bill Belichick syndrome when it comes to disclosing injury but i am wondering if Dupont got it on good sources that Staal could be back in the next 2-3 weeks.

I think he should consider growing a handlebar moustache. This team could really use some toughness.

Have there been any pictures of his eye? That thing must look horrible.

The last article on him was 6 days ago and all it mentioned was they had hopes he would be back before the end of the regular season.

I sure hope Marc is okay. He had been playing well and battled back so hard from the previous injury.

Andrew Gross ‏@AGrossRecord 5m

Staal says no timetable for return or beginning to practice with team. Not sure about regular season. Vision not 100 percent.

Steve Zipay ‏@stevezipay 1m

Marc Staal skated with Roman Hamrlik today, is cleared to continue daily workouts. Vision not 100 percent

Andrew Gross ‏@AGrossRecord 3m

Staal says today was his second day on ice. Hopes to keep skating every day. Was really whipped after first skate.

Andrew Gross ‏@AGrossRecord 5m

Staal getting used to visor, has to work on conditioning. Says he could play with vision less than 100 percent.

Pat Leonard ‏@NYDNRangers 13m

Staal can't give a timetable for his return but is encouraged and looks surprisingly good w slight bump above right eye

A positive step..

Dan Rosen ‏@drosennhl 15m

Marc Staal today: "When I was hit and on the ice, one of the things that went through my mind was, 'I should have been wearing a visor.'

Hindsight is 20/20 i guess.

LOL - his eye sight needs to be 20/20 and as of today, he's still dealing with blurred vision.

Hope he returns soon!

Marc Staal (eye) took some shifts with Dan Girardi during practice Tuesday but coach John Tortorella had no update on his status for the playoffs.

He must be back if he's taking shifts with Girardi, otherwise wouldn't they just pair him up with Eminger? I mean it'd make more sense to have Girardi playing with McDonagh or whoever he'll be paired with to start the series.

Staal makes his dramatic comeback game 3 at MSG when we're up 2-0 in the series ;)

He's been skating since a while but just hasn't been doing full practices. I'd take Staal at 50 percent than Eminger or Gilroy at 100.

Hahaha....sounds like Staal likely won't be playing tonight, same for Clowe and Dorsett.
