View Full Version : John Wall, A Max Contract Player

John Wall stated he believes he's a max contract player and hopes to receive a max contract this summer. Personally, I think this is ludicrous. Holiday, Lawson & Curry are all better than him and they didn't even get a max contract. I know teams overpay for potential, but he isn't worth more than $12mill a year.

Thoughts?

I don't watch a lot of Wizards basketball, but from what I've seen I really don't see him being a max deal player at all. Hasn't he been hurt a lot of his career? Also, a max contract goes to the guy who makes the entire team better... the kind of guy if you remove from a winning team they start losing because he was the guy that held it all together. Wall hasn't exactly elevated his team or made anyone better... he has a long way to go IMO.

John Wall is Rajon Rondo 2.0. More scoring ability with less passing, but overall I view them as similarly valued players.

he will get another "potential" contract. And he should. However, I wouldn't give him over 4 years, $40 million at the most.

Of course he'd say that...Jordan Crawford said that too. Wall will get the max from someone considering today's NBA. Holiday wasn't as good as Wall before the season started (and would be a max player now), Curry wanted money because who knows what his health would be, and Lawson maybe could have gotten more on the open market.

People forget that being a max player after your rookie contract isn't the same as being a max player like Howard Bynum etc can be.

These "max contracts" are starting to be thrown around like the word elite when pertaining to nfl quarterbacks. aparently all qbs are elite and everyones main star needs a max contract.

if it wasnt for his injuries i would say yes but no at this point he is not a player I would give him a max contract. Not a player you can depend on to be healthy.

John Wall has proven that he is a pretty solid player with a bunch of potential.

The kids good, But max? Not in this world.

Oh wait. Nba players always get max. Maybe he will, but not off of his stats and current play.
