View Full Version : Which NBA player(s) does not like to pass?

4milesperday

A player you can just tell hates to pass the ball.

I have been watching Westbrook play and I feel like he makes the Thunder easy to defend because he hugs the ball so much and the coach have to always remind him to get Durrant the ball.
I find myself yelling (pass) at the TV when Westbrook has the ball, trice as much as Kobe. My vote goes to Westbrook.

If it's regarded as baiting by the Mods, I want no part of it.

Westbrook falls in love with his shot a little too much, but let's not carried away here. Dude is 4th in total assists, 5th in assists per game and 7th in assist percentage.

But yes, let's keep playing to the narrative!

Kevin Martin is incredibly adverse to passing. Stucky and Knight aren't great passers. Isaiah Thomas NEVER passes. Metta hates passing.

Hard to single out centers, but Dwight is an abysmal passers. That was always my biggest beef with him. DeAndre might statistically be the worst.

You do know OKC has the record they have currently, got to the NBA finals last year, and has made deep playoff runs with Westbrook playing the way he plays right? Could he tone it down on the shot attempts? Sure, maybe, but all they've done for the most part is WIN, and it hasn't stopped Durant from getting his points and having one of the most efficient seasons ever considering how he's getting his points.....I swear you people are going to make me love Westbrook now (not that I've ever hated him much).

He deserves criticism from time to time...but people get so freaking carried away. It's amazing.

Never seen anything like it: a top 10 player a scapegoat 100% of the time.

Even if this is a bait thread, that statistic is pretty embarrassing. Imagine if scottie had more fga than mj?

As far as westbrook goes...

5th in ast per game (7.6, with >100 more assists having played two fewer games than last season)

7th in ast percentage (38.4%)

He has three teammates in the top 20 in TS%, and EFG% (Durant, ibaka, Martin)

11th in PER

8th in Offensive WS%, and 9th in WS%

All Stats http://www.basketball-reference.com/leagues/NBA_2013_leaders.html

46-17. (47-19 last year) 2nd in the west, without James Harden.

Is he gonna make some plays that make you cringe? Yep, no way around it, but so does 98% of the league. He does far more to get them in a situation to win games than lose them. He keeps teams off balance with his aggressive drives, creates space for his shooters, and has allowed KD and Ibaka to more freely develop their games in the absence of Harden.

He might not be the best player on his team, but he is far from the ball-hogging scrub some people want to make him out to be.

Just because I don't think Kobe is the MVP, better than LeBron, deserved more than one MVP, is flawless etc. doesn't mean I'm taking shots at him. I love watching Kobe play, I just don't think he's the god that you think he is. I'll take a shot here or there, but most of it is just my opinion backed up with some substance.

And since I can't back up the claim that "Kobe hates passing" this year, I'm not gonna say it

Oh stop it manram, We both know you hate Kobe(I'm pretty sure you admitted it). I don't act as if he's god bro, I just see what he is doing at the age of 34 and can't help but be amazed. I'm sure you would be doing the same if you were a Laker fan or if Kobe played for Orlando.

In regards to Westbrook I didn't see the game last night just the box score 27 fga is way too much when you have Durant as your teammate. I wouldn't say he hates passing more like he really thinks he is on at times when that isn't the case.

I don't care for Kobe, but that's mainly because I don't think he's what many of his fans think he is. Maybe I did used to hate him, but I soon learned that's a stupid reason to not be able to enjoy someone.

I love watching him play. What he's doing at 34 is tremendous, for sure. It's the best 34 or older season from a non-big besides Jordan. I'm never hesitant to give him props...but when people start barking about him being the best ever, still being better than Durant/LeBron, deserving 6 MVPs, bragging about how he has more assists Kareem, Karl, MJ and Wilt, deserving THIS year's MVP and so on, well, I'll tell them why they're wrong. If that makes me a "hater", so be it. We all have biases, but I do try to keep them out of it.

Hence me thinking it's ridiculous to suggest Kobe hates passing the ball more than anyone in the league.

I'll say "I've never been confused for a Kobe fan", but I've never said I hated him.

And, if you were around when Dwight was a Magic player, you'd know how much I slandered him. I used to argue Yao was better than Dwight all the time. I used to get into it with guys like D Roses Bulls about how stupid of an idea it was to force Dwight to get 20 shots up a game. The only time I really ever rode him was early in the 2011 MVP discussions, and even eventually I stopped arguing that. I don't run to the main forum to praise guys on my team. Being a fan doesn't mean you always have to stand up for someone, over-hype them and so on. You can still be a rational and objective. Hell, Jameer might be my favorite player ever, but I'll be the first to tell you how terrible he can be.

There are certain people, like JR Smith and Jamal Crawford who are not supposed to pass. Kevin Martin too. They come of the bench to create shots for themselves and carry the bench load, so IDK how you can rate them as unwilling passers, it is sort of like saying that Omar Asik is an unwilling 3pt shooter, its not his job.

Nobody should average more shots per game on the Thunder then KD. Too many times will I look at the boxscore and notice that Durant and Westbrook both scored 26 points, but KD will be like, 10-14 and Westbrook would be like, 9-22.

As a Celtics fan, I have recently gotten to see Jordan Crawford. I don't know how you guys dealt with him, Washington fans.

.55 is around league average. And even if his eFG was awful and his TS would good, it wouldn't really matter because his TS is good. (hypothetically speaking).
