I'll never get why that's always a clear defensive foul and not offensive. I mean, he has a right to go for the ball too...and initiated less contact.

EDIT: the later replays might have my mind changed.

But either way, that was absolutely filthy. Best of the year for sure.

Props to Knight for trying  A lot of guys wouldn't even bother. He almost broke it up.

Maybe it's just me and I'm sure I'll get thrashed for this but if Knight wasn't there, there's nothing special about it. It's just a nice dunk. The announcer said it rivals any of Blake's dunks which I don't agree with either.

Knight isn't exactly a towering force. If Jordan didn't throw down on him it would haven't been embarrassing for him.

Why should you? Most poster dunks really aren't anything special (except when Vince jumped over a 7 footer haha) its the fact that the guy got dunked in such a manner is what made it special.

Not that exciting imo, Jordan is almost a foot taller and a hundred pounds heavier. He has one of the better set up guys lobbing the ball up for him as well.

Guess it's only as big of a deal as each individual makes it out to be. Didn't blow my socks off to be honest, nice athletic play but you would expect a guy his size to be able to do that to a smaller guy.

Before people start in with the height weight thing I realize Jordan is only 8" taller and 80 lbs heavier but that's close enough for me.

Brandon E Knight ‏@BrandonKnight07

It wasn't in the scouting reports that the clippers threw lobs lol

:laugh2:

Outside the window within the coach's office, we could see Brandon Knight still on the court inside the Detroit Pistons' basketball facility. These had been hard training camp practices, and yet Knight still hadn't gone home. The Pistons' coach, Lawrence Frank, nodded toward him and shook his head.

"He won't leave the gym," Frank told me on that September day. "We have to chase him out at night."

When Knight had plantar fasciitis in the offseason, Frank had to confiscate Knight's sneakers so he couldn't sneak into the gym and play against doctor's orders.

"This kid will get every ounce out of his ability," Frank promised.

As the Los Angeles Clippers crushed the Pistons on Sunday, Knight did something that surprised no one within the franchise: Between DeAndre Jordan catching a lob and dunking on Detroit, Knight leaped and tried to stop him.

For this, he's a punch line now. He's a joke. For everyone celebrating Jordan's fantastic lob dunk over a guard some 8 inches shorter and 80 pounds lighter, they've made Knight an object of ridicule. The comedian, Kevin Hart, tweeted that Jordan had been brought up on "charges of rape & aggravated assault against Brandon Knight," and tombstones declaring Knight dead were popping up on the Internet.

The message is clear to players everywhere, on every level: Run away. Hide. Don't try to take the charge. Don't try to disrupt the play. There's no reward. This is how backward the basketball culture has become, how twisted the value system.

This time, it was Brandon Knight. A year ago, it was the Clippers' Blake Griffin dunking on Kendrick Perkins. As a center, Perkins is bigger, stronger, and that makes Griffin's dunk more impressive. They gave Perkins this treatment, too. Even now, he still comes back for more.

"If I was in the same position, in the same rotation, I'm going to jump again and again and again," Perkins told Yahoo! Sports' Marc Spears. "A lot of people are afraid of humiliation or don't know how to handle embarrassment or would even get embarrassed. I don't care.

"That's my job. How will my teammates look at me if next time I just back out of the way and just let him dunk when I'm supposed to be defensive-minded, a shot-blocker? That would be a coward move on me.

"He'd just have to dunk on me again."

Jordan made a spectacular play. No one will soon forget it. So congratulations and all. Jordan has a $43 million contract and yet still doesn't have one offensive move, an ability to score outside the paint. Yes, he can leap, dunk on little guys. And somehow that makes him an achiever in the sport now. After this, perhaps even a folk hero.

For Brandon Knight, who had the guts to stand in there, there were prominent people writing that he had been raped and assaulted and killed on Sunday night in Los Angeles. Eight inches shorter and 80 pounds lighter, Knight understood the right thing is seldom ever the most popular. Brandon Knight didn't run and hide, didn't spare himself the humiliation.

The culture of this sport has never been so backward, never so twisted. Hell of a dunk out of DeAndre Jordan, but maybe the wrong player gets the ovation.

IMO it wasn`t really a foul on Knight. Dunk was damn nasty, but Jordan led with the left arm and all contact was incidental. 2 pts, no foul. I hate when refs try to hype the dunk with an and1, dunk was nasty enough.

WestCoastSportz
03-11-2013, 03:12 PM
Have to take Brandon Knight out of the equation. He's a 6'3 point guard so the fact that every headlines reads "Deandre Jordan Dunks on Brandon Knight" is misleading. Take Knight out of the picture and its still a monster dunk thats worthy headlines. Just because its on Knight doesn't make it anymore impressive.

The dunk(oop) itself was nice

but coming from a player perspective he dunked on a 6 'footer' being a basically 7ft tall

wow comes from the actually alley hoop dunk, not for dunking on a midget in comparison,no diss to KNIGHT he can play, more so J.WALL than a ZEKE/AI type, but respect indeed, and he might be better than WALL, only time will tell, its close

now if N.ROBINSON or KNIGHT would have dunked on HOWARD/JORDAN than It would have been major

or had JORDAN postered HOWARD/BYNUM/SANDERS or any other perennial shot blocking big then it would have been something special

peace

Wow I didn't know I had an aspiring fan. The point that I was making was that it is OBVIOUS that a player, taller than you by 8 inches and heavier than you by more than 80 pounds, will dunk over you. I would've been MORE surprised if he would've dunked over someone his stature or constitution. Or if he would've simply missed the dunk since that's the only thing he knows how to do.

So your saying you could do this on a 6 foot hoop over a toddler? I don't think you giving the dunk enough credit. I've come to a consensus with my Clippers fan brethine that this is the 2nd best dunk of all time behind VC in the Olympics. Say what you will about Clippers fans...we see A TON of dunks. Knight affected that dunk attempt in no manor, it was like he was not even there. Paul gives Jordan plenty of time for the catch in space and his length gives and ability to elevate makes it what i think he would say a rather easy dunk for himself. Its looks a lot more impressive that it was imo, not dunk of the year. Nasty still.

For the record I don't think dunks win championships.

2nd of all time? Yea ok buddy, it obviously had to be between Clippers fan to be in consensus for the #2 huh? Cause I mean its not like Dom W., D12, Jordan or ANY of VC's dunks have anything to say about it. To say that its 2nd of ALL TIME is horrendous. I would punk ANY of Griffin's posterizing dunks over this dunk.

How can I give credit to a guy who was setup by one of the best, if not the best, PG in the NBA right now, and having 80 lbs and more than 8 inches over the guy he was dunking.

I heart your sarcasm by the way, keep it coming.

Lol Brandon Knight on twitter, It wasn't in the scouting report that the Clips threw lobs

lol this. I'm sure the guy doesn't care. It was the right play and any of his peers would know that. So yeah, he's on the bad side of a play, but it could have happened to anybody. Still dunk of the year.

not as nasty as people made it to seem. Knight is way more smaller than Deandre jordan and not as athletic ofcourse jordan was going to dunk at him. like how knight didnt care getting dunk on and try to play some D.
