http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/9031485/nba-nears-agreement-nbpa-test-hgh-sources-say

"The NBA and National Basketball Players Association are close to an agreement to test players' blood for human growth hormone (HGH), according to sources with direct knowledge of the talks. Testing could begin as soon as the 2013-14 season."

Wonder what kind of penalty will accompany a positive result...what say you?

::No bashing any player/team:: ;)

Let's see how many jacked players start next year looking like a twig.
I remember Chris Masters of the WWE being ridiculously ripped until he was forced to stop taking roids. Then he looked miniscule. I think the same went for Randy Orton.

You know there will be at least a player or two that this will happen to.

Oh for sure. And yeah Orton was def a roider.

I don't think it really matters tbh. That may impact whether players choose to take HGH once they are in the league but they can always take it before they get to the NBA to help accelerate development.

How is this post allowed Corey? You are being careless.

Then dont post in it. It's fairly easy to discuss the topic of HGH testing without targeting specific players. If you're incapable of that, I'm sorry.

Are you serious? Where in the rules does it say we can't hypothesize who might be effected by this?

I find it hard to believe that the NBA is the only league that dudes just choose not to use this ****. Its rampant everywhere. Stern is prepping for the shitstorm right as he is on his way out. He will let Silver deal with the black eye thats going to follow.

Ehh, depends if the testing procedures are gonna change. From what I gathered, players are tested randomly 4 times after the beginning of the league year, as the policy stands right now. After the 4th test, there is no chance a player will be tested, during the rest of that year. So, if they have hgh testing, will it really make a difference if 1/3 of the league has already taken all 4 tests by the all-star break?

HGH isnt just for muscle development and explosiveness. Im sure lot of NBA players take it to come back from Injuries, etc.

Hgh isn't steroids...

Yes it is. Just not anabolic steroids. A steroid is a drug that effects hormone production, an anabolic steroid is a drug that effects testosteron production.

I wonder if the number is too high, David Stern hides it, and warns players to stop and the next run will go public with suspensions/fines

Makes you wonder how many guys are using given that they don't even test.

Its a skill game, the biggest, fastest and strongest aren't necessarily the best... but it'd be naive to think you can't gain ground on other guys by getting bigger stronger and faster.

There are two types of steroids, corticosteroids and anabolic steroids. Hgh is neither!

buddy...your wrong...its androgen steroids and anabolic steroids....all of them are used to increase testosterone levels...corticosteriods have nothing to do with this topic what so ever...its used for SLE...some players may use hcg...

There are a handful of steroids with very similar chemical structures. AAS (Anabolic Androgenic...i.e sex hormone), cholesterol, cortico-steroids, etc.

ALL steroids are lipid molecules. HGH is a polypeptide hormone. Chemically; steroids and HGH are not even in the same ballpark.

I'm a Lakers' fan, and I have no dislike for the Heat. There has never been a rivalry there for me. The only way you can have a rivalry is if you have a play-off history.

Yes, aas regulate the manufacture of testosterone in the testicles and ovaries. Hgh is a peptide, not steroids. Neither should be in same sentence unless used for cycle to enhance one another compound wise...

i finished med school, corticosteroids are mostly used for lupus and rheumatoiid arthritis......but most commonly athletes want to use anabolic or angrogen

http://www.thelupussite.com/cortico.html
http://www.steroid.com/Anabolic-Androgenic-Steroids.php

at times it will lead to kidney failure

alonzo mourning had kidney failure cuz he was taking NSAIDS(non-steroidal)

up to a certain point.....when it produces to the maximum amount and produce anymore testosterone from ur adrenal glands, thats when your testes start shrinking

Not sure what you're getting at but all I was stating hgh and aas do NOT fall in same category. The compounds make each other more effective, which why useful when combining together in a cycle. Still, hgh is not a steroid. Period.

i know that hgh is not a steroid, and your right about the cycling part...alot of players do cycle it.....baseball players usually get caught with hcg (which is used for females), or synthetic hgh....but i don't get it...they should use creatinine aka beef
