View Full Version : Chandler Parsons...what is his future?

03-04-2013, 12:35 AM
First off, congrats to Parsons on a career game against the Mavs tonight. First player since Bird to score 30, make at least 5 3's, and shoot above 92% from the field. He scored 32 on 11/12 shooting, 6/7 from distance.

He could have had more, but only played 30 minute due to the rout.

Parsons is an interesting player. He's in the 2nd year of a 4 year deal, making under a mil in each year.

He averages 15 p//6 r//4 a// and 1 steal per game. He's shooting 48% from the field and 37% from 3.

I've seen a lot of fans say he's nothing more than a good rotational player. However, he's a lanky, quick, athletic and YOUNG 6'9'' player that plays pretty well on defense. Even Kobe complimented parsons during his rookie year, and you usually dont see kobe praise rookies.

so...what do you see for parsons future? can he ever become an all-star? he's current 24...

Hopefully his future is in Detroit. :D

03-04-2013, 12:48 AM
He's slowly became my favorite player in the league, I think the skys the limit, especially if he can continue to gel with Lin and Harden. I like what McHale is doing with Motiejunas, the team is extremely intriguing.

03-04-2013, 01:08 AM
All-star. One of my favorite Gators of all time.

03-04-2013, 01:08 AM
He's awesome. Such an underrated player. Houston has a big decision to make when it comes to Parsons. Dude is going to get paid big time. Honestly... I'd pay him if I were Houston too.

03-04-2013, 01:12 AM
hes the next michael redd

03-04-2013, 01:26 AM
The perfect glue guy.

03-04-2013, 01:33 AM
The guy has no obvious deficiencies to his game. He could add some bulk, but otherwise he has good size, speed, shooting, passing, defense, etc.

Tayshaun Prince type of impact.

Tayshaun Prince type of impact.

I was just going to say this.

03-04-2013, 02:01 AM
He's solid. Loved the pick when the Rockets drafted him, couldn't believe he fell to the 2nd round. I remember I was a bit skeptical when they traded away Budinger, the two of them together were a solid tandem. I think he is an excellent young player, but I do think he still has a bit of room to grow. He just needs a bit more consistency and I need to see him against the top SF's in the game like Durant/James.

I don't think of him as a superstar, but being a Rockets fan and seeing him since day one, the thing that greatly improved is his jumper, I used to cringe when he shot the 3 and now it's money. Couldn't ask for a better SF for this team other than the likes of Durant/James.

03-04-2013, 02:17 AM
I love Parsons, gonna be a very good all around player

03-04-2013, 02:24 AM
Tayshaun Prince type of impact.

i 2nd this. he will never be a star, but will be an extremely solid and valued role player.

03-04-2013, 02:36 AM
He will become one of the greatest white players of all time.

03-04-2013, 02:39 AM
Do you guys think he's a watered down Deng somewhat?

03-04-2013, 02:48 AM
Deng and Prince esq primes are great calls. Parsons will be an invaluable piece to a playoff roster, but I don't ever see him taking the next step towards being a franchise-type player you can build a team around.

03-04-2013, 03:02 AM
I love to say I told you so, especially when it relates to Chandler Parsons. Prior to this year, I must have said a hundred times that I thought he would average 15, 5 and 5. I even recall referring to him as a better passing, more offensively versatile Luol Deng. I still think thats the kind of player he can be, but he's beginning to surpass even my expectations. If he can continue to be aggresive and efficient on offense, I legitimately would not be shocked if this kid averaged 20 points a night in a couple of seasons.

03-04-2013, 03:16 AM
He will have lots of smiles, laughs, and new friendships in the future :)

03-04-2013, 03:28 AM
He's such a cutie...

03-04-2013, 03:41 AM
Combination of AK and Tayshaun, which if you really think about it, is a scary thought defensively. His offense is coming along nicely, but his defensive potential is pretty rare from a wing, hope he fulfills it. Why more teams dont just offer their late 2nd rounders more years is a mystery to me, Morey has mastered this.

03-04-2013, 10:16 AM
Given Morey's history, probably not on the Rockets.

03-04-2013, 11:52 AM
Wow, what a game, and his season averages come as a great surprise to me.

How is Houston not that great of a basketball team with all of these guys putting up huge numbers?

03-04-2013, 12:29 PM
Maybe Gallo

03-04-2013, 12:38 PM
He reminds me of a young Toni Kukoc. Except he can go off dribble like Deng. Problem is he becomes too comfortable w/ his jumpshot and can disappear. He needs to drive more. Still young though. IDK if he stays in HOU either. But they like him. Needs to work in the paint w/ post up moves too and rebound more.

03-04-2013, 12:51 PM
Very good role player.

Because our defense is absolutely atrocious when Omer Asik is not in the game.

Say wut brah?

03-04-2013, 01:24 PM
Say wut brah?

Its really funny at games during the player introductions when they say Jeremy Lin and James Harden the building gets loud, but when its Chandler Parsons all you hear is girls screaming.... thats what i meant

03-04-2013, 01:26 PM
I say a prime Hedo Turkoglu. 20ppg 5apg 5rpg and lethal 3pt shooter.

03-04-2013, 01:37 PM
I scream like a Lil girl when they announce him too...

03-04-2013, 01:39 PM
Given Morey's history, probably not on the Rockets.
What kind of upgrade he could get for him is tempting but considering his contact, its pointless speculation for a few years

03-04-2013, 01:43 PM
From year 1 to 2 he's made a lot of progress I think he can only get better.. 17-20 ppg 5-7 rpg 4-5 apg

03-04-2013, 01:52 PM
Maybe Gallo

he's already better than gallo.

03-04-2013, 03:02 PM

I was praying for the nets to draft him but they passed and took jordan williams

03-04-2013, 03:17 PM
Another guy I wanted Milwaukee to get.

03-04-2013, 03:29 PM
All the need is a Aldridge type PF and they become a title contender.

03-04-2013, 03:36 PM
All the need is a Aldridge type PF and they become a title contender.

I agree, but Aldridge-type PF's dont grown on trees :)

I do think they should stay away from Howard in FA and stick it out with Asik. Though Howard is a "star", Asik is just as good a rebounder and defender, and half the price, while being a couple years younger. Asik has made a ton ofoffensive strides this year and you can onyl assume he'll get better.

Though his hands are a bit of a joke.

03-04-2013, 03:47 PM
As a Rockets fan I get to see him night in and night out, the best part about him is his team first attitude. He had a good rookie year and could have been bent out of shape about bringing in Lin, Harden and Asik. He very well could have pouted and said it was his team. Instead he checks the other teams best player, doesn't need the ball in his hands at all times, turning into a great 3 point shooter and can get to the basket at will. The Rockets are currently the youngest team in the league, as these guy continue to mature, learn the game and learn each others games they will be a force in the West. Uneducated PSDers will lead you to believe that the Rockets are a fluke, but be patient and wait and see what Morey does with a superstar in Harden and cap space now.

03-04-2013, 04:29 PM
Great glue guy who will be a borderline all star for many seasons. He's very versatile which makes him even more valuable. His bromance with Lin is also very funny.

Love Parsons and would have hated to see him go in a trade for Josh Smith (I think he will be better than Smith when it's all said and done...).....his jumper has improved vastly since coming in the league, he plays hard on defense, and is becoming more comfortable creating off the dribble....Keep Harden, Parsons, and Asik together at all cost unless some once in a lifetime trade opportunity comes up....

03-04-2013, 07:44 PM
I personally think he is in the top 9-12 SF's in the league, but he will never be a top 5 guy.

03-04-2013, 07:53 PM
AK47 with a better jumper.

03-04-2013, 07:54 PM
Very efficient

03-04-2013, 10:19 PM
I think he can be a perennial all star next to Harden for years to come, he's a great young all around player that can play at a wildly efficient level.

03-05-2013, 02:51 AM
This kid's one of my favorite players in the league. There isn't a single other player who outworks or outhustles Chandler "bang" game in and game out. Chandler is really the only guy who brings college basketball caliber intensity to a pro floor night in, night out.

The kid will get paid at the end of his current deal. I'm talking $10 mil plus annually.

Having said that, it is a bit foolish to claim that he'll be a "perennial" all star. I can absolutely see him becoming a consistent 16 to 18 ppg scorer in his prime, or perhaps average a bit more than that. And I can definitely see him as an all star eventually. Having said that, he's good at everything, but not great at anything.

btw, here are the frontcourt players he'll have to match or surpass to be voted or selected for the all star team:

-durant (scoring champ)
-howard (game's top center, 1st team all nba)
-griffin (20/10 guy, highlight reel)
-lma (20/10 guy)
-duncan (HOF guy)
-d. lee (20/10 guy)

I think chandler bang does make the all star game, not once but perhaps even several times. But he's got to make a significant step up from 15/6/3 to make the all star team once, much less every season.

I think he can be a perennial all star next to Harden for years to come, he's a great young all around player that can play at a wildly efficient level.

03-05-2013, 02:55 AM
On the money. Only thing I'll add is that Chandler never takes a play off.

Great glue guy who will be a borderline all star for many seasons. He's very versatile which makes him even more valuable. His bromance with Lin is also very funny.

Just a great player to have on your team. All around hes got a great game. Such a fun player to watch. Hes my second favorite Rocket at the moment (Harden being 1).

03-05-2013, 02:18 PM
Great 3rd option

03-05-2013, 07:06 PM
He is not going anywhere....Parsons will be a rocket 4 life and I couldn't be happier....(now please Morey dont trade him)

I wish the knicks had this guy on the knicks.

03-05-2013, 07:30 PM
He seems like a good #3 for a team. He'll be someone like WIlson Chandler, JR Smith, and Gallo...people who are ok #3's on teams.

So, if a team has him as their #3, they are in good position.

Don't see him being much more than an above average producer. No allstars. But solid seasons.

He's Tayshaun Prince on crack. Basically a similar all around, impact player but better in pretty much every single way besides defense. Better than Deng by next year if not already.

Parsons is a stud for Houston. Would he be a stud for other teams? I don't know. I see Morey using him until his max amount of value is up, and then shipping him elsewhere, and his career won't be half as effective. He fits the Rockets perfectly, and I think some of his stats are overvalued because of the system that he is in. But he's still a stud for that team.

03-06-2013, 10:33 PM
I don't know who he is
