I think he means as far as exposure. But in the basketball world, Duncan is widely recognized as a top 10 player.

I'm good with that, and I'm not claiming to be the last word on the matter, I'm just saying he is often overlooked as being that caliber of player. I guess he flies too low even on my own radar, but that's why I put it out there.

I don't know, he was a good shooter, but I don't think he even makes my top 10 list in terms of shooting guards.

Not trying to argue but curious as to which 10 guys you would put before him.

Really? I don't think Tim Duncan is underrated at all. He's not even the most underrated player on his team. Tony Parker takes that title IMO.

meh, I think people who really are in tune with basketball and its history have Duncan way up there, but I can agree that the average joe out there probably underrates his greatness, because he hasn't been thrown at us relentlessly by the media and every sports website in the universe. He just quietly goes about his business, and people find that boring, so he gets forgotten about by those who aren't addicted to the game.

I agree about Bernard King. I'd also say Bob McAdoo. Isiah has a lot of haters with good reason but he was a heck of a competitor so I might include him. Come to think of it I never hear Bob Lanier spoken about.

So what you're really saying is that he's flying under your radar?

Bernard King is a good pick. I always underrate him unintentionally. Just outta habit.

I don't know, he was a good shooter, but I don't think he even makes my top 10 list in terms of shooting guards.

If my memory is correct for a change AD had an ugly shot but he was near unstoppable inside the paint at times and lived at the FT line. Even though he was listed around 6-5 he played SF so you are right not to include him in your top 10 SG list.

Choose.

Kevin Mchale, James Worhty, Scottie Pippen.

had they been " the man" somwhere else and they woudl be rated more than a couple spots higher in all time lists.

Duncan is a top 10 player in 99% people's book. He's properly rated.

Ode to Timothy Theodore:

Duncan shouldn't be mentioned. He's outta this world. Cyborg-like. The elder he gets the more respect he earns from me and it's not like my respect for him was ever on a low. Best PF of all time. Best shooting big men (REAL big men, no hybrid like Dirk) I have ever watched. Not such a beast on defense like Hakeem with such smooth moves in the post but still outstanding, not a guy that cares much about his scoring average but a leader, winner and player who stands on its own. Highest level player. Force. If Shaq with his physical force, powers, dominance would have been a little like him...man. Sadly Shaq had no touch and too much business going on aside the NBA while Duncan is a working machine. Hurricane Hugo did good by bringing him fully commited to basketball.

Duncan and the glass... they're a decently married couple.

People really just don't understand how good Allen Iverson really was or give him enough credit (especially considering his size) and that Sixers team he had to play with.

I've always felt that James Worthy was very underrated.

On any other team, he might've been a 25/6/5 player in his prime.
