View Full Version : LeBron James runs a 4.6 according to him

He said himself he ran a 4.6 40 yard dash. So now we can forget all that BS about him flying around with the speed of a trackstar.

To me this is a big duh, cuz he's a 260 pound man.

I respect him more now than ever because he gave an honest answer and he's not concerned with trivial things like this.

4.6 for his size is still pretty crazy. I wonder if he would be a good TE in the nfl. I think defenders would chop him at the knees until he got injured.

Tony G., Jimmy Graham, Antonio Gates were all ball players turned football TE's. They all ran right around 4.6 too. I think Jason Witten ran 4.65.

I would consider Lebron a better all around athlete than those guys. He's even taller than Jimmy Graham. Physically he would probably be the best TE in the league. Obviously it's not just about the physical attributes however.

I'm sure we'll never find out.... Unless he pulls a Jordan.

He ran that 4.6 in highschool when he was playing football. He was still a boy. With his work ethic and trairning, I bet you four years later he was running a 4.3

I mean honestly, on the court for his last five years at Cleveland, the film was telling me he ran sub 4.2. He was flying by people.

Meh. He's bigger now. I doubt he shaved .3 seconds off of it.

And I don't think ANYONE ever said he had the speed of a trackstar. The dude is 6-8, ~250. There's no way he has trackstar speed. But for his size and height, it's incredibly impressive.

you guys arent factoring in how much practice and training goes into a good 40 time, hes not playing a sport that requires that type of speed, he needs burst but he will never need to go 80 yards for a TD, I bet he could get around 4.3-4.4 if he was actually putting in an effort, dudes the best athlete in the NBA and it could be argued hes the best athlete period, dudes a freak

Lollll.... So he's faster than Bolt's estimated 40 of 4.2? No human on the planet can run a 4.1. I don't think you understand how fast these guys at the combine are. 4.25 is the record... The record for combine. Football has many more natural sprinters than basketball. Not a chance in hell anyone in basketball has ever run a 4.2 or faster.

It's conceivable with training LeBron could get to a 4.55ish time. I don't see him trimming much more time though.

Also at his size a 4.6 is very impressive. People keep bringing up the NFL players with similar size and faster 40 times. But that's not fair.

Basketball players have tremendous stamina especially the ones that play 40 minutes. Basketball is a more endurance oriented sport.

LeBron running around at a high effort all game being his size. It's nothing short of incredible.

No one comes close to Bo physically and athletically, IMO. I have to look it up again but i recently read that he ran the 40 somewhere in the 4.2's. I believe it.

Plus, LBJ said himself he ran the 40 in 4.6 seconds WITHOUT training.

There is no doubt his has the physical atributes to be a great TE, but i think pro football is too rough for Lebron. I'm not convinced he would be ok taking hits from p willis and getting chopped at the knees by corners and safteys.

I believe if he stuck to playing football he would inflict just as much damage, if not more, than what he would receive. But we'll never truly no for sure. The dude is bigger than Willis, who I think is the best MLB in the game. He's 6'2(max with shoes ) and at 240-250lbs.

Derrick Rose is 6'3" and 180. Fans need to realize that football is power sport and basketball is more of a stamina sport. Most NBA players are natural ectomorphs.

Indeed! Except there is zero chance he stays healthy for an entire carrer like he's doing in the nba.

I think it's more his conditioning that really impresses too. Not just his speed. Guy isn't even sweating after the first quarter usually.

I don't think track speed plays much of a factor in basketball in the first place.

for sure dude, its beyond rare to stay healthy in the NFL, you are bound to play through pretty painful injuries, though I don't doubt he could. Just depends on whether he could avoid those killer injuries that knock years and effectiveness off a players career for good. That is all luck.
