No Kawhi Leonard tonight. (though he should play tomorrow in GS) But really wanted him to play tonight. He and Jack didn't play in our last meeting and it was tough to watch. The perimeter defense just isn't the same when he's not out there, and rebounding for that matter.

well I guess Chris Paul has to prove he's the best PG in the NBA. Skip Bayless was all over Tony Parkers nuts today on First Take. On the day Stephen A Smith wasn't there

Clippers are going to wax the Spurs in a blowout for the 3rd time this year. Highly motivated against them due to how the playoffs shook out... AND they are in LA where they are 21-5 and have a knack for blowing teams out of the building. On top of that they have supposedly had 3 straight days of amazingly productive practices and everybody is healthy finally.

The Clippers are also amazing record wise on national TV and will be looking to make a statement for those saying they are a tier below the Spurs.

114-97 Clippers.

May very well happen... But if it doesn't and the Spurs win (cause they're pretty good at basketball too) I'm sure you'll be nowhere to be found

I'll be here, you have my word. I'll readily admit if I'm wrong but all signs point to a Clippers blowout TBH.

1. At home where they destroy teams by 15+ points regularly.

2. A week of rest and 3 days of prep work/practices.

3. Spurs have yet to see a healthy Clippers this team yet still found themselves down 30 for half of the game in LA last time on national TV and ended up losing by 22. A few days later we went back to SA and beat you despite playing a crappy game.

I just don't see SA winning, especially without Leonard.

I don't see them winning without Leonard either. Since his return, the Spurs have been the best defensive team in the league. He has a really big impact on that end. But that doesn't necessarily mean a blowout.

And regarding #3 Leonard was out that game, and Jackson broke his finger in the first quarter. So they had really no SF. That was just an awful game to watch on both ends, really sloppy. But Clips did more to win, so props to them.

That said, I can totally see the Clips winning, but I won't predict a blowout. Just as you think the Clips will be motivated cause of the playoffs last year, I think the Spurs will have a little extra fire to them knowing they've dropped 2 already.

I agree Spurs were short. We were short Billups+Hill though so I didn't think much about it. If anybody doubts Billups impact (which I've been stressing the entire time he was out) look at his last two games. In just 16 minutes vs the Lakers in the last game he had 21 points, 3 assists, 3 rebounds, 4 steals for example. Guy still has it and is a huge upgrade to Willie Green starting.

I think if we don't guard the 3 well it's going to be a TIGHT game. I just have a good feeling about tonight.

I don't doubt Billups impact, I just know they have played a lot more games with him than without, so they're able to adapt to his absence easier than guys who are regular rotation guys. Same for Hill for that matter. I've always felt Biilups is a really important piece to the Clips

Sorry, I hope you didn't think that was directed at you. You seem pretty knowledgeable. Just meant in general people act like Billups= trash and him being out didn't hurt us. Dig deep and you'll see Willie Green outside of being an okay 3 point shooter was a TERRIBLE basketball player. Him starting held the team back big time.

Also you mean the Clippers are able to adjust because they are used to NOT having Billups right? You worded it the other way around in your post.

Yea my bad, that's exactly what I meant. But Billups though he's been banged up a lot just his IQ and everything he brings with him is really important to them. Not to mention his ability to hit big shots too. Willie Green starting, I never understood that. But they managed to win a lot of games anyway, and now looks like they're playing much better w/guys getting healthy.

No Clippers fan understood it. Start Bledsoe at SG or Crawford should have been what Vinny did. Hell start Matt Barnes at SG. Sure bench takes a hit no matter what you do but starting 5>>>>bench in terms of priority of production. You need to get off to great starts in games, not find yourself in a hole and fight out.. which is what Butler+Green vanishing constantly caused.

I agree though that the Clippers have basically gotten used to not having key guys, specifically Billups. Which bodes well for them if they find themselves shorthanded again because they have the experience of being without these guys now.

Well Heat don't play with their full potential during the regular season, they go 100% in the playoffs.

They've been cruising since November. Bosh and others have said they'll be taking things more seriously now that the All-Star break is behind them (his words: "it's go time"), but I doubt it.

D. Rose should sit the season out. This team is not good enough to beat Miami in the playoffs. He should wait and see what the front office does in the offseason. He also is a Ferrari. He needs to be at optimum health. You see Howard is a player who also relies on his athleticism that came back too early from injury.

ManRam
02-21-2013, 11:46 PM
Meh, it's such a tiny percentage of Bulls fans on PSD that paint a bad picture of that fan base. There are just so many of them, so there are naturally going to be a few more bad apples than the lesser fan bases here. Percentage-wise, the bad posters probably aren't any more numerous than most other fan bases. I'm sure 90% of the good posters who usually avoid the main forum in the first place (ie not the ones that will come here to boast and brag about anything and get in petty fights with Heat fans, for example) aren't at all happy with the fans there. I think I quick trek to their GT would prove that.

But that doesn't defend what the fans there did. Probably just got carried away, but it's still pretty piss poor class. Luckily he wasn't seriously hurt. Looks like just a bad rolled ankle.

I don't actually know the answer to that. I don't recall ever taking note of a Clippers crowd.

Fewer stars probably, which you'd think would help. But the Lakers have claimed most the bandwagoners in that city...the Clips still enthuse that city much less than LAL.

The Spurs are a much better defensive team than last year, I think some of the late game stops they couldn't get last year, they are capable of this year. (A top 5 offense and defense. haven't been that since 2007) Their starting 5 is the best defensive unit in the league. And they jumped from like 15th or 19th in FT % up to 4th. They improved on a lot of things they were lacking last year. I still feel losing Harden will be a little more apparent in the playoffs maybe in the 2nd round or WCF.

But until that time comes, OKC is the team to beat. But I do think this team is better equipped than last years

Whenever those "who are your favorite players to watch" threads pop up, well, he's been on my lists for those since I joined. I just love watching him play. So creative. So skilled. He's awesome.

Yea, I kind of have an affinity to skilled players, with Kobe being one of the few exceptions. I think he even has a decent case as a top 12 SG.

Spurs aren't getting by the Clippers again man. Any knowledgeable basketball fan can look at that series and understand it didn't prove much. It proved that the Spurs coming off 9 days rest and with an intact squad.. could take out a newly built team with 10 new players, their 5 best players injured and coming off a brutal 7 game series. Had the Clippers had even 3 of the guys like let's say Griffin, CP3 and Billups healthy... Clippers push the Spurs to 6 or 7. Not to mention as I said 1 day of rest vs 9 is a HUGE difference.

Another thing to note is last year the Clippers had the 28th ranked bench overall. This year? 1st. Spurs are the only team that scores more and the Clippers defensive and rebounding factored in make them the undisputed best bench. 2nd ranked offense, 3rd ranked rebounding 1st ranked defensive bench by a huge margin. In other words.. you guys needed a lot of luck, Murphy's Law vs the Clippers to win and that was with a worse Clippers team to begin with. Clippers would spank your ***** in 5-6 games this year and WILL.

You called, I answer. Seriously though GAWDsoe is gonna eat people alive tonight like usual vs the Spurs. 15 point win for the Clippers.

1. It's in LA where the Clippers regularly blow teams out and are 21-5.

2. Clippers finally at full strength just won 4 in a row by 15.5 ppg going into the all star break. They have now had 3 days of practicing and game planning for the Spurs... waiting for the kill.

3. Spurs old legs aren't ready to run with the healthier, deeper, fiercer Clippers team.

Long live Eric GAWDsoe.

1 month avy bet? Clippers win. I'm tempted to bet you a win by 15+ but a bet just to win should suffice. I think you'll be upset enough already getting embarrassed on national TV for the 3rd time in a row this year by a much different Clippers team. I guess being down by 30 in LA last time didn't teach you much.

Well you're obviously referring to me since I'm the only person in this thread saying it (although I'm sure I'm not the only person who feels this way). Your argument is quickness? Really? You play to the strengths of your best players, strengths are something Paul just has more of than Parker.

For all intensive purposes, let's say their ability to put points on the board are equal. You're trying to tell me the that Paul being a better passer, shooter, defender and all of the little intangible things that he brings is dwarfed by Parker's quickness?

Of course it's not all about athleticism, but when you have 2 highly skilled players the one with superior athleticism is usually the better player. Tony Parker can pass, drive, shoot, handle the ball, high IQ. He's a versatile and skilled point guard.

For example, the reason MJ is better than Kobe is his vastly superior athleticism.

he's always got credit he deserves. I guess I agree that he doesn't get enough attention tho, but that's the Spurs issue not him.

People hestitate to throw him in certain levels of ranking for SGs throughout his career because he's not starting and doesnt get to carry as much of a load like many other 2 guards did during the 2000s. But I think he was capable..honestly he's smarter, craftier, as good of a shooter then all the 2 guards to come after Jordan.

Toronto has a tough time getting good players because of their location, however, Colangelo has put together a team of guys who like each other.

On one hand, it's gotta be slapping me in the face how ridiculously inefficient Rudy Gay is, and will continue to be...but on the other hand, they're winning games despite his unsustainably low production. I mean, he's been about as bad as one could possibly be so far...besides a few clutch shots. They wouldn't have needed those clutch shots if he hadn't stunk up the joint for the 47 minutes leading up to that. He has to get better, even if it just means playing like he did in Memphis this year, which wasn't very good either.

Costly turnover.

mightybosstone
02-22-2013, 10:44 PM
This second half is the worst I've seen them play in weeks. I think that's their 13th turnover in the second half. Lin has played horribly in this half, they're making stupid mistakes on both sides of the floor and somehow they're still winning. But they have to make a couple of shots down the stretch or they're going to choke this game away.

Anyone who thinks the Lakers are catching the Rockets should look at these last two games. With a shorthanded roster, they come back from a 14-point deficit to beat the Thunder and then with an equally short roster go on the road to beat the Nets. Now their next 12 games are easy as hell.

not uglier than those jerseys. I can't prove it but those jerseys are prbly why no one is scoring. It feels like high school or college as a fresh, we use to give sleeves to non shooters at my highschool :laugh2:
