Im skeptical...

Not one major outlet is carrying this story yet...

If Mindy mccreadys death is front page center over Jerry buss's passing even making a headline, i'm missing something....

I have my doubts on its legitimacy

Why? His illness has been well-documented.

The LA Times and USA Today aren't a "major outlet"?

Unfortunately it is true.

He received his Masters of Sciences and PhD in Physical Chemistry at USC. He was a Trojan alumn, and so the band that you usually hear on TV during Laker home games is the band that originated from the USC Trojan marching band.

First and foremost, if his death doesn't mean anything to you, then why make a comment on such a touchy subject in the first place? You could have easily evaded this topic.

Secondly, money isn't everything.

That being said, I'm sure you didn't mean any negative by your previous comment. But, I just hope you understand the sensitivity of issue, that's all.

Seriously one of the best owners american sports have ever seen.

I think that's an understatement. It goes beyond winning, but indeed his success on the playing field/court dwarfs that of every other owner in the history of North American sports. More than that, though, his impact on the league has been profound. Showtime was not just an entity that existed on the court during the games. It existed between timeouts (The Laker Girls). It existed in the stands (The Forum Club was the place to be, and helped make Laker games a celebrity attraction, which in turn made each game more of an Event). It was the entire presentation of NBA basketball, which every team in the league now emulates to one degree or another.

Magic Johnson and Larry Bird deserve the most credit for the NBA blossoming during its golden age in the 80s, but Jerry Buss' purchase of the Lakers, his vision for the show, and his whole business model (which any owner in any league would be well-served to study) deserves to be high on any list of people with the greatest impact on the league.

So false.

The Clippers will never become LA's team. Never.

So true.

There's a lot of uncertainty right now about the Lakers' future, but not so much about the Clippers. They are not within 10 years of taking over the city. I mean, the Lakers could miss the playoffs ten straight years, and it will still not be a Clipper town. Maybe even twenty years.
