He's skinny cause Russy doesn't feed him the ball.

It's funny that LeBron and him workout together.

LeBron must embarrass him every day in the weight room. I would guess that LeBron benches at least 1-2 plates more than what Durant does.

Pre draft workouts KD was actually the only player who failed to bench press 185 which concerned quite a few scouts at that time. However, KD is one of the few players who can with his skill set hide such weaknesses. Simply by using proper leverage, balance and timing it can negate the size and strength of other players. With that being said there has been a noticeable improvement in strength by Durant over the years, which is to be expected. The tricky part of adding mass is to add it while maintaining the same speed and quickness. The most recent example of this would be Thad Young. This season he came in with about 15 pounds of added muscle to use in the post but also never lost that first step quickness. That is definitely an attainable goal Durant should focus on as he gets older and wants to improve his post game.

Contrary to every post game interview ever, somehow I don't think prayer is the answer.

He should, but I don't know if it's completely necessary. It will probably mess with his shooting stroke for awhile too.

Does KG?

kevin durant is listed as 6-9 235
kevin garnett is listed as 6-11 253

2 inches does not equal 18 pounds

kevin durant could definitely use some mass because lebron is now a lethal post scorer. kevin's length isn't as effective against lebron because he is so big himself so he now needs to gain 10 pounds and start playing the 4 a little more. it could elevate his game like it did to lebron.

He's already elevated his game. Dude is only 24 years old he'll get there.

It's not as easy to get his mass up. I mean look at Bosh.. Surely if he was bulkier, he'd grab more rebounds and box out more. I don't think it's as easy as you think it is. It's a long process that might take months.

He just needs to get stronger. Some dudes are just not going to be big, he just needs to get stronger, to be able to create physical separation from his defender, something I think is still holding him back from being even better. Its also why many times I think Westy gets the flack for taking a shot late in clock, many times its because Durant was not able to get open..

No westbrook just has a terrible IQ.

Even Steve Kerr was saying how he misses open players and goes solo.

Reggie Miller never put on mass... and his NBA career turned out fine.

Yeah, but there is no doubt Durant would get better if he puts up mass. He gets bullied much too often, like against Miami last night.

I never said he doesn't do stupid things at times, I am saying, there are times during a game where a set play for Durant does not work because he can not get open, and Westbrook then needs to go one on five to create a shot.

Not everyone can put up mass though. If you ever been to the gym, it's not as easy as pumping roids and doing some curls.

Basketball is not a contact sport. Perimeter players do not need to be strong. The majority of NBA players are lean and much thinner than many other athletes. Why does it matter? If anything being skinny helps his hops, stamina and accleration. Think about how quick he is for a 6'10" guy.

KG is probably a legit ~253 especially at his age now, and that is a very specific number. He filled out a lot since his younger days.

Durant though, is more like 220 tops no way in hell he is 235 - he measured 215 when drafted. The NBA is well known for fabricating list info (though interestingly he and KG are among few NBA players who listed by their honest w/o shoes heights).

For comparison, in 1989 David Robinson was listed 7-1 235lbs coming into the U.S. Olympics. The Olympic committee was already aware American basketball players at the time were already in the habit of giving out suspicious list info so that season (and also 1992) they decided to give physicals to the players to come up with their own list info rather than trusting what was given to them. When Robinson he stepped on the scale he weighed 226lbs, not 235 and he was 7-0 w/o shoes not 7-1. Now obviously Robinson put on some weight afterwards and eventually topped out at about 265 before he retired in the NBA but looking at photographs of Robinson even from the '89 Olympics I can in no way see that Durant is 235lbs right now, a full 9lbs heavier than the 4 inch taller Robinson. Durant's listed weight is suspect.
