View Full Version : Bad Players; Great Games

After realizing that the real Samuel Dalembert scored 35 points on 17-21 FG, with 12 rebounds in 27 minutes, I realized all things in life were possible. Seriously, all things. Any thing.

But it reminded me that genuinely crappy players have a good game every season or so. I remembered when Dan Gadzuric scored 21 points and had 20 rebounds against the Sixers in 2005 (Hey, that was actually against Dalembert).

Anyone remember any other players who out of nowhere had a crazy night?

The nuggets defense is so confusing. How can you hold Ellis and Jennings to 24 PTs combined and give up 35 to sam

I wouldn't call Dalembert "bad." Mediocre as hell? Certainly. But watching him with the Rockets last season, the guy had some big games. That was one of the most frustrating things about watching him in Houston. He would come out and give you 15/10/3 one night and then give you 5/5/0 for the next four. He's just too inconsistent.

Interesting thread idea, but for some reason my mind is drawing a blank. I do remember Ish Smith having a really solid stretch for the Rockets back in 2010-11 after Brooks went down with an injury. But I don't think he ever had a really great game.

I wouldn't say Dalembert is a crappy player.

Anyway, Chris Quinn had a 26/5/5 game for the Miami HEAT and they won.

Hold on to your seats because just last week Aaron Gray got 22 points on 9/12 shooting and ripped down 10 rebounds. 6 of them being offensive. The thing that's so magical about this all is that before that game he had scored a total of 44 points on the entire season.

He's really not, but I dealt with eight years of him (seven as a starter) and he was so frustrating to watch, even though he has abilities on the defensive side that are apt.

Genuinely crappy? He made it to the NBA how is he genuinely crappy? 1v1 him for an hour intact invite 4 friends I guarantee the final score is somewhere around 50-2.

Rivers is actually one of the worst players that ever played, but Dion is also a rare breed of bad.

He's a bad player currently, that's pretty much all that matter as far as the thread is concerned. I don't care much for Austin but when a guy is posting some HISTORICALLY bad numbers, his future is doesn't look too promising.

Tony Delk, who averaged 9.1 points per game on his career and shot .408 from the floor once had a 53 point game. Willie Burton, who had a promising start to his relatively short NBA career (8 seasons, that last three of which he played a combined 40 games) scored 53 points on his former team. Darius Miles once scored 47 points while grabbing 12 rebounds and getting 4 steals and 5 blocks. Ricky Davis had a 45 point game with 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Scola, Wally Szczerbiak, Terry Teagle, Larry Hughes and Mo-Will all had 44 points games (though I wouldn't say any are bad players, i would suggest that they aren't exactly 44-point game type players). Eddy Curry once scored 43 points and actually managed to grab 13 rebounds in the same game (though NY was running practically every play for him that season in order to get their moneys worth out of him). Anthony Marrow once scored 42 points. Bargnani scofred 41 points in a game yet failed to reach double-digits in rebounds that same game. Linas Klienza scored 41 points and that game, oddly enough, Marcus Camby got 24 rebounds and 11 blocks, yet failed to get a triple-double. Kleinza's career average is a meager 8.7 points per game. Todd Day, who shot .406 from the floor on his career had a 41 point game coming off the bench. Antoine Carr, whose career average is less than 10 per game had a 41 point game. Rodrigue Beaubois scored 40 points in a game off the bench in less than 30 minutes (9/11 from downtown). CJ Watson dropped 40 points one night, far above his career average of just over 7 points per game. Lamond Murray and Tracey Murray had a 40 point game, as did Michael Dickerson and Acie Earl. Ledell EAckles, who wasn't even in the league for 8 years pulled out a 40 point game twice!

That said, though I am surprised that Dalembert pulled off those numbers in such limited minutes, I do think he is a grossly underrated player and should be getting more minutes (though the Bucks are surprisingly deep in the front court).
